Drinking milk with meals

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how I can get my 12 month old to drink milk from a sippy cup. I offer milk in a sippy cup at every meal but my twin boys will only take a few sips here and there. They have been drinking water from a sippy cup since they were 6 months without a problem but won't take much milk or any other type of liquids such as juice, V8, etc.

They like to drink water with meals. They are not interested in drinking milk with their meals at this time. They usually get their milk about 45-60 minutes after their meal (approx. 30 minutes prior to their naps) and will drink 5-6.5 oz.

At what point will they drink their milk with meals. How did you transition from offering their bottles after meals to with meals (by using a sippy cup)?

Any suggestions are welcome.

I don't think it's a big deal to have milk with meals and if you want them to drink milk out of the sippy just give them the milk in the sippy. It might be rough at first, but if that's the only way they're getting their milk they will drink it eventually. Good luck!

Ya I think it great that they have water with there meals that way you know they are filling up on there food not on milk. My daughter would take a sippy cup with water in it from about three months, still now at two if I put anything else in her sippy cups she wont drink it but if I get a pop top milk from the shop or just a reg cup she will drink milk from it!!! I dont know what it is but she just thinks her sippy cups are for water and thats it, so I have a few child friendly cups for her milk or the pop top that I just wash out and save ( that way too she thinks she's getting favoured milk when its not!!) I like to give her milk after meals so I know she is eating food but thats a whole other things for us good luck

At this point they don't have to have milk with meals if they are already having it in their bottles about 3 times a day. Water is just fine with meals..consider it a job well done that your boys are liking water. There are moms on here asking how they can get their kids to drink water.

To get rid of the bottles I would try a different kind of sippy for milk. Maybe that will fool them.
