The only thing you can really do is tell him its a thing he needs to do in private, and just keep telling him. Dont shame him tho, it will make him feel uncomfortable with himself, and we all know how much men love their penises. LOL

it doesn't get "WORSE.." that word relates that something is bad or not normal,or natural, about it,all boys in history play with their penis, and when old enough, masturbate, very normal, should be accepted

to some of moms who read the post then respond may mention privacy, Of course kids should NOT be nude in public..but only the privacy of the family setting

. Now,

if they are hiding in some dark corner in shame, just because the little kid has an erection,,,,is that healthy,?

...any thing concerning my kids, they do not have to be hiding and ashamed......all kids do this..but it is the parents reaction that is the essential consideration here......

......for instance ,when you have moms and kids nude in nature,as,say,in our springs on our property ,bathing there, playing there,.where is the privacy then , where is the privacy in that situation? its just simple erections moms, not a threat! so we see erections , and do not faint,,,,or say "oh my god,its an erection!

Great advice here. I have to agree with all the other moms. Yes, this is extremely normal (just wait until they get older!) and yes you just have to play it down a little bit and defnitely do not make them feel bad or ashamed. Just acknowledge it, explain privacy issues and move on. Happened with my boys when they were younger and is very much a regular occurence now that they are getting older. Can only imagine the teenage years! Lol!

I'm right up there with the others saying its natural and normal. Again though u just have to remind him there is a time and a place for such things, in private, and make sure u wash ur hands when ur done. I have lots of friends who have kids and they've gone thru it too. Even with the girls.touching, and looking and exploring. I have a son n daughter (8&5 now) who both "check out their bits" not so much the boy anymore, and its all part of growing up. Just gently remind that such things are to be done in private and when ur alone. U don't want to do/say anything that will cause shame.

Have 2 boys but haven't had that happen yet. We have had erections. The last two moms have it down. Just tell him its normal but here is the place to say and do it. I talk frankly when it comes to body parts. His penis is penis and not some nick name. Be as open as you are comfortable with but don't shame him in what happens naturally to him. He is discovering new things about his body as funny as it is to him it might be just as scary too.

get used to it! It will only get worse! When he's a little older, or even now, you can start explaining to him that his penis is private, and should only talk about it and let mommy and daddy and the doctor see it. He may not get it quite yet, but he will eventually! Fun times. :)

A bit awkward but totally normal. My son had just turned 5 when he discovered he could make his penis "get bigger". For a couple week or so after that initial discovery, we seemed to constantly have to remind him that it wasn't appropriate to do in the living room or in public, etc. But, as quickly as it came on, he seemed to lose his fascination with it and things went back to normal.

The key is not to make a big deal out of it. It is a perfectly normal thing that all children go through (though it does seem to be a bigger deal for boys) and there is nothing wrong or shameful about it unless YOU make it into that. You don't want to give him a stigma about his own body, but you DO want to teach him that there is an appropriate time to do stuff like that - like when he's alone in his room at night, for example - and when it's not appropriate, like at preschool or at the grocery store.

I think if gently guided in this way, your son will quickly lose interest and go back to his normal, every day activities.

Haha i have a 5 yr old son and he was amazed his willy can nod 'yes'. He was busting for the toilet so had an erection due to that. It is all very normal jut not something we opening tell one an other. Our boys are funny, curious, handsome little people.
