going from bottle to cup

I have been having a hard time with the cup too. My son is 20 months and will drink out of sippy cup but only if it has water or juice in it. If the milk is in it, he throws it at you. We've been trying to give him a cup with milk in it at dinner and then the bottle for bed. We've tried cold turkey and he wouldn't drink anything and threw a tantrum. So what does someone suggest about this?

Hi,
I have the same problem, my daughter is 16 months and will not drink her milk in anything but a bottle. Juice and water she will drink from a sippy cup but not milk. As she only drinks a few ounces of milk I am reluctant to take away the bottle. My thoughts are it wont last forever and is doing no harm so I will keep trying but at the moment I want her to drink her much needed milk.

i put all my son's bottles in a bag in storage on his first birthday...gave him a sippy cup, and never looked back.

just take the bottles from him. he doesn't need them. put them away so he can't see them and you won't use them. Let him throw his tantrum keep offering it to him in his cup. At dinner we don't give him his cup we wait till he's done. Start giving him a cup before bed. If he doesnt' want it o well. When you put him down for the night he may scream but shortly he'll figure it out.
