I know it is hard not to do anything about the way they act, but sometimes kids just like the attention, even if they are getting in trouble. My son will be 3 on Sunday and for a while he was also kicking, punching and yelling and I would punish him for it, but nothing would help. He would always tell me or other people (strangers even) that he hated them or say rude things and I would yell at him for it then apologize to the other person, but again he wasn't stopping. I got fed up and just stopped doing anything about it and he has definitely chilled out big time. When he says rude things to other people I just apologize to them and say hes going through a stage and yelling at him makes it worse. If they want to think you are a bad parent, whatever, you know what works for your child and they can just deal with it! Its definitely frustrating, but try ignoring it. Its been about 3 months and he has definitely changed a lot!

I know when my kid throws a fit or gets pissy like that, i will pop him on his but and put him in the corner until he stops crying.
if you decide to try this make sure its a corner that there is nothing entertaining to look at, like pictures or wall art of any kind.
my 3 year old can't stand this punishment, when I take him out of the corner I tell him again that he can't act like that. then i make him give me and mommy a hug before he can go play again.

my 5 yr old is the same. I just asked her Dr. what I should do & she said that there is therapy to help them learn how to control their anger.
