So for the past 2 weeks my son REFUSES to keep his pants on! When he is put down for a nap within 5 minutes i will check on him and he will be naked from the waist down, and i cant even count the times that i have thought he has had pants on and is all cuddly with his blankets, just to move them and find no diaper. Even outside his bed he does this!! He will run into another room when i am doing the dishes, when i am done i see his thingy. Or if i am preoccupied (like now) i wont notice until i start to hear the tabs of the diaper SLOOOWLY being taken off (he is smart enough not to want me to hear). Now we are taking potty training very slowly (my son is only 1 year, almost 8 months so no need to rush, except for this one problem) so i cant just leave him without his diaper unless i want to clean pee off the carpet for the next few months. HELP ME!!!! WHAT DO I DO??? The only thing i can think of is duct tape and i can't , with a clean conscience, do that to him.

Try a pull-up.
He may figure it out soon...but maybe it'll buy you a couple of weeks.

My daughter did the same thing she would wake up and have no diaper on I just put her in clothes that make it harder to get it off. I also started potty training and she knows that she only gets to take it off my herself if she is going potty. I hope that helps

dont use the tape! NOT a good idea! i think the potty is your answer! since you already have one, when he takes his clothes off, sit him on the potty, and tell him, if he wont use his daiper, then hes gonna be a big boy and use the potty!!!

My sister-in-law is going through the same thing with her daughter, and her solution has been overalls! she can't get out of them!! But I have potty trained my son at 22 months. The trick that I got for potty training was to do it old school, take away his diapers! it took my guy about a week of going hard, every time he started to pee or poop I would pick him up and run him to the potty, he even figured it out at night right away. I was told not to even mention diapers we got him to put them in the garbage! and from then on he was in his big boy underwear. Anyways two different methods you could try.

I invested in overalls when my sons started to do this around 18 mos old. they stayed in them for about 2 mos and then they were past the phase. if you can get some used overalls and keep them in those, it will help you out. onsies were enough to stop my daughter (not my twin sons)

I would suggest an all in one vest over the top. Unless he is very strong he will not be able to undo all three poppers quietly and take off a nappy. Boys love the feeling of being bare and letting it all hang out. Let him run around the garden starkers and then tell him it's time for clothes it just give him the 5 minutes of freedom that he wants.

i would suggest puttining a onsie under his shirt as long as he cant get it unbottoned.

My son does the same thing, Maybe try putting him in pullups so he can't rip them off he would have a harder time trying to pull down the pullups so you might be able to catch him in time to stop him from fully taking them off.. Or better yet what I did was I put the diapers on backwards...So that way he wasn't able to reach the tabs and rip them off. !!

Mya daughter does this too. I will put her to bed full clothed, and when I get up in the morning she has taken her pants and her diaper off. So then I have to wash her sheets. I just let her do it, and I just started potty training, and telling her if your not going to wear your diaper, they you go use the potty, like a big girl. This helps, but as long as she is naked from the waist down she will use the potty but if she is wearing a diaper then she will not use the potty. I just can't win. lol. Good Luck!!

We went through the same thing with our now 2 year old and the tape really does work! I didnt use duct tape just regular scotch tape all the way around and it worked i only had to do it for awhile till he relized he couldnt get it off now hes to the point were it doesnt even bother with it!

This is just a phase that they all go through and it will soon pass. Just put something on that is a little harder to get off like a jumper or jeans. Do not put duct tape! Kids can use this to rap around their necks siblings or a pets.

My daughter started doing that also. It drove me insane! I say go for the tape. If I would have thought about it I would have. lol. Like Gillian said, you may have to potty train sooner.

Go for the duct tape if you need to it's not like you're putting it on him, just the diaper, it's a phase he'll grow out of either that or you'll have to start potty training a bit sooner than planned.
