How do I get my child to use a straw cup?

My baby is just about 9 months old. He likes drinking from an adult straw (with my close supervision and holding the tip for him!) and has no problems with it at all. However, he just started daycare and won't drink his formula from a sippy cup, which is fine because i don't want him on a sippy cup. Today, I bought him a baby straw cup and he can't seem to figure out the whole bite/suck thing. It's very different from the normal straw he's used to. Any tips or suggestions????

I found a straw cup for my son that didn't need biting to get the flow, it was just literally a straw through the lid straight into the cup but all attactched. Maybe see if you can find one online, and save the bite/suck one for when he's a little older. :) Good luck
