My youngest boy will be 3 on April 19th, 2013 and he is already 38 inches tall. Today is 3/30/2013. Is that too tall for his age?

yes he will be tall... mine who turned 4 in september 2012 hes at 41" and about 40 lb. he is tall as some 6 year old's. my son skip the 5 T t-shirts because he is that big. most of my family is tall, i am the one of the smallest in my family.

My son is 33 months now. Two wks before his 2ndescape birthday he went from 18/24 m size to a 3Twonderful!! I have to buy big at carters, but he got some 3tof from kmart that were too big. At two and a half old he reached 36 inches, 34 lbs! Now he is ...aprox. 38" 36 lbs.

I am 5'6" and his Daddy is 5'29". My mom is 5'3" my dad 5'11". His other grandparents are 5'1" and 5'I 9". Pretty short on both sides, but not super short.

My daughter just turned 5 in july. I took her for her shots for school and her doctor weighed and measured her heigth. Weight was awesome but they are saying her height is the size of a small 4 year old. They ran bloodwork and I'm trying to patiently wait for the results but I wanna know now what it could be considering both her daddy and I are tall. Any ideas on what this could be and is it something to worry about?

my daughter was 33 1/2 inches at her 18 month check up (she is now 21 months). her 7 year old brother only has about 12 inches on her. with a tall family lineage your son may end up pretty tall.

Oh my goodness!! Just seen that I posted a while back that my daughter was 32 inches. When she was measured a few days ago (at 20 months on the 3rd of May) she was 36.2 inches and now has size 6 feet!! Can't believe how fast she's growing :(

yikes....if they are supposed to double their age 3 height i'm going to have a 6' 4" girl on my hands ....of course she is 5 and already wearing size 7/8 (and measures about 4' now (which is up about 3 inches since february). She will totally tower over me (and my husband).

My daughter is 35 months and 40 inches tall. She easily looks 4...but she's only 30lbs. I find it difficult to buy clothes because she's slender with long legs. I think that height prediction website someone posted there, seems rather accurate ---says my girl will be roughly 5'9 (same as me) ---her dad is 6'0. Who knows, right

My daughter is 13 months old and is already 32 inches tall. She has size 5 feet and is wearing mostly 18-24 month clothes. I'm 6ft and her Dad is just shorter than me so I guess she'll be a tall girl :) I'm going to make sure I am always positive about being tall so she grows up confident, because I hated being tall! x

My son is the same! At his 24 month appointment he measured 36 iches then I measured him at 28 months and he is 39 inches, weighs just over 30 pounds. I am 5'8" and my hubby is 6'8" but still I am shocked how much he sprung up in just 4 months!

My daughter is 2yrs old (as of dec 19th) and she is 34inches tall! I think your son will be pretty tall but he could also be having an early growth spurt...but I think he's going to be tall :)

Hi Jennifer, my son Mason is 23 months at his 18 month check up, he was 35 1/4 in. He is already wearing 3T clothes comfortably. I'm 5'6" and my husband is 6'3". My doctor said if you double the height they are at 2 years old that's pretty much the height they will be when they get older. I haven't measured him (he doesn't stay still long enough to do it). I'll find out next month how tall he is. I'm sure he is over 3 ft tall now and people always think he is 2 1/2 or 3 years old :-)

Yes, my 24 month old is 35 inches and can wear size 6-9 month pants in the waist, but the his length is 2T - 3T. His brothers are very tall too; my 6 year old is the tallest of 93 class mates. The next tallest comes to his chin. However my two year old is taller than either brother was at his age. I am 5' 5" and my husband is 5' 8". My brother is 6' 1; he is the tallest in our family. So apparently my boys inherited a mutant gene. lol

My daughter is 27months old and already 37". I'm 5'8 and my husband is 6'9. Her doctor told us shes tall but normal. Normal, she's almost 2 and a half and wearing a 4T. All the little girl dresses are mini skirts.:)

My son was 33 1/2 inches at his 21 month check up & has been growing like CRAZY since. I've had to pack away all his previous size pants & get out the next bigger size & even those already seem too short. At 6 months our son was larger than our friend's 12-month-old. Most people are shocked to find out our son isn't even 2 yet! Every kid is very different & grows at very different rates.

My daughter has just turned 4 and she is 108cm/42.5 inches. She wears size 5-6 clothes. She was 92cm/36.25inches at 2 yrs so I hope the height predictor is not right as it means she will be 1m84 / 6 feet as an adult. Although my dad and my brother are tall all the women in my family are average to short and my husband's family are all shorties - my husband is only about 5 foot 9 (1.75) and he's about the tallest. My little one is 20 months and is 82cm /32 inches so she's on the short side. I just think everyone grows at different times, my husband was always tall as a child but then got overtaken by everyone as a teenager.

My son was in the 95-95th percentile for so long but since he has slowed down some he is only the 75th percentile now in height. He is 18 months old and 33 inches tall. My husbands and my families vary in heights so I guess well just have to see. I just hope he stays healthy! :-)

I understand what you are saying... My son Is about I think 79cm tell... I am around 5.5 and my husband is 6.1... I often say to people that My son Ethans dad is telll and taking after him...Even my own sister trys to compair her daughter with him... I said both you and your husband are average high so she won't be tell... can't compare one child to another... they all grow at there own rate and also there development...I am preganant again a people and only coming up 11 weeks and people think I am 6 months....I don't care what other people say about me... Its what they say about my son... anyway let people think what they think... we can't change that about people... And sometimes explaining it even when its the truth/... People don't believe anyway...as long as she is happy and healthy that what matters.

I have a little girl called Freya and she is 2 years and 9½ months, she is already in size 3-4 clothes and people often comment on her being tall. I am 5'2" and my husband is 6'2" so she is following her Dad. I don;t think there is anything wrong in it but I do think because people assume they are older because they are tall they expect more from them - such as behaviour, etc..... I actually went shopping the other day (had a day off work) and the lady behind the counter asked me if there was any school today? I had to tell her my daughter wasn;t 3 until February - she ws a bit shcoked, then you can see them looking her up and down to check the size of her. We have even said 'her Daddy is tall' so many times that Freya said it to the lady, it was quite funny. Its sad thogh because you feel you have to give an explanation as to why they are tall for their age, or is that just us do you think? x

My toddler is reasonably tall for his age. He is 3 years old, and is 42in tall. My side of the family is short ... I am 5'5", and my mom is 4'11" ... but my husband is 6'2" .... He has always been in larger sized clothes than his age and was in the 90th+ percentile from birth. There are good and bad sides to this ... on the plus side, he gets on height restricted park rides before other kids his age, and can stand up for himself very well ... on the negative side ... some people that don't know his real age assume that he is a bit behind for his age, because they think he is 4 or 5, instead of 3 ... so they expect him to be more advanced than he is.

I'm on the other side of the spectrum...my son is going to be 5 on Jan 5...he is 40 in., 37 lbs, 4-5T clothes, size 10 shoe. I'm 5ft and my hubby is 5'8"...my sons boy cousins are all tall so I'm hoping he's at least 5'8".

Funny you should say that! My middle son just turned two this october. back in july we were doing shots; basic immunizations. The doctor walked in the office and said... "my my my Benjyamin, what have you been eating?!" Doctors jaw dropped cause he too jumped in weight, height, head width. He is 3 inches shorter than my soon to be 4 yr old and 5 lbs lighter...HE IS HUGE!! He is 3T as well! My family says normal... doc tells me diet?! So i am on the fence!

My son was that height at 24 months. But we are all tall, so a small child would have been strange. Its also a major growing period for children and you will find that as he turns four the growing is much more in "spurts" and less constant. Tall kids are wonderful!

My youngest son will be 2 on Monday the 29th of this month and he is already wearing 4T clothing. His older brother is 8 years old and is just over 4ft tall and weighs about 50 lbs. my youngest is just over 3 ft tall and weighs about 30 lbs. He's built like a football player. lol. I am also short along with half of my mom's side of the family but on my dad's and my husband's dad are all tall. it won't be long before my youngest one will be pushing around his older brother. lol....my youngest also can wear some of my oldest son's shirts. both of my boys are growing fast but seems like my youngest one is growing a little bit faster. lol.

my son is 31 months old and is close to 40 inches...ask him how old he is and he will tell you "I'm 4!" and I have to explain to all he is only 2. Absolutely towers over other kids his age. I find myself making sure everyone knows his real age, especially when he is throwing a fit out in public :) I am 5'4 and my husband is 6'5. Only time will tell how he will turn out

My son just turned 3 and he is 3'8" or 44 inches tall... he wears a size 6X. He is confused with a 5 year old... often asked about going to school!! My biggest issue is a very tall child is also very heavy and not so easy to manage when they are having a tantrum, as 3 year olds do!!

@ Jamie... We also do adjustable waists, my daughter is solid, but as she gets older we definitely find that she is slimming down. As far as lengths, you don't find them in toddlers' (though different brands are most certainly lengthier than others) but in girls' a lot of brands will have different lengths.

To Melissa, my dtr is in the same sz clothes as yours. She's 37 1/4 inches & we have to do the 4T shirts w/ the 3T pants although I don't see how much longer she will be in the 3T pants which is funny b/c she's such a bean pole that we have to buy the pants with the sizers in the waist otherwise they won't stay up! Now we'll be in even baggier pants w/ the 4T's but just right for the lengths. Does anyone know if they have lengths for toddler clothes like for us adults?

At 2.5 my daughter was 35.5 inches... she's just past that now and has shot up about an inch maybe a little more. (I could never get her stand still to measure...) In terms of clothing... I can't seem to keep her in a size for long... right now she's in 3T pants and 4T shirts... and has been since the mid-end of summer.

My son has always been off the charts for height, but your son has him beat. He just turned 3 and is 40 inches tall. He is wearing 4T shirts and some 3T pants still because he is thin, but they are kind of high waters.

At my daughter's 2-year well baby checkup a month ago, she was 34.25". I've heard a theory from several people that you take however tall your kid is at their second birthday and double it, but I'm not buying it. I like the height predictor on babycenter.com

My husband and I are both shortish. I'm 5'5" and my husband is 5'8", but my brother is 6'5" and my sister is only 4'10", so who knows how tall my kid will be. Right now, she has to wear 2t-3t pants for length, but her waist is only 12-18 month sized, so she spends a lot of time in thick tights and skirts or shorts. :) At least all of her height is in her legs, because she still wears her 1-year shirts!

Yes! My son has been between the 90th and 95th persentile since about 2 months old. At his 2 year old check he was 35.5 inches tall. Another 1/2 inch nd my 2 year old will be 3 ft tall. It is a bummer too cuz he has still got a 18month waist but needs the 2T pants for the height. He also wears a 8 Wide shoe. Even his 2T feety PJs barely fit his feet. He has had probs out growning the feet and length of pjs a month or 2 before he should.

Wow; he's really tall! My son is in the top 75-100th percentile for hisage. He's 3 1/2 and he is 39 1/2" tall. Everyone always thinks he's 4 'cause he's so tall but wow... your son is really tall!
