I work full time nights and my son goes to my mums when i work, he sleeps in the bed with her and wont go to sleep by himself. he sleeps in a bed in my bedroom when im not working but wont sleep in his own room or fall asleep by himself. Im expecting my next baby soon and need to get him out of this before his little brother/sister comes, as I dont think ill have enough time shushing him to sleep!!

We have a daughter who will be 2. She just recently started sleeping back in her own bed. What we did was just let her cry it out. It only lasted 2 nites then she was okay and has been sleeping in her own bed ever since. We also did slowly working our way out of the room. Having a steady routine helps too.

If grandma has a normal nightly routine, start it 30 minutes earlier as this is going to take some patience with all parties. Once bed time routine is done and you've tucked the little one in say your goodnights and walk away, but stay within earshot. As soon as that door opens and out comes toddler, remind him that she needs to sleep in his big boy bed and tuck him back in and kiss him goodnight. If he comes out again, walk the child back to the bed tuck him in without saying a word and continue to do this until he is sleeping. If he wakes up in the middle of the night, walk the child back to their bed without saying and word, tuck him in and walk away. Bed time is hard, but eventually you won't have a fight on your hands. Talk up the big boy room this can help with the issue of being removed from mums room
