He may be going through a growth spirt if so it is normal. And iff not he may just be I expelling too much energy during the day he emay just need more food for his little body and he may start trending away from sleeping so much. Have you had him checked for diabetes. Ask his doc about these things and then move on he will most likly grow out of it.

My kids are 2 yrs and 3 1/2yrs old and they sleep 12hrs at night and take a 3 hour nap everyday,my 2yr old still sleeps during nap time, but my 3 1/2 yr old sometimes naps maybe a hour or 2 of it,but mainly plays or does something quiet..My friends always joke and say I have weird kids cause they love to sleep so much,my oldest my son) used to sleep until 3yrs old..So I was worried this is too much alone/sleep time for their age?But their happy & energetic allday..so by reading on google, seems its not a big issue, which Im happy to see :) I have never once had a arguement about sleep, they run in joy for naps and bed time,So I concider this lucky,as most my friends kids wont nap at all and fight over bed time..I swear by rutine and never rocking or letting ur kids sleep in bed with u not even as babies, and it has worked well these rules for Us..

My kids wereworry abo same when they were that age. They are 5 & 3 now and never had any issues. I would just say they were the good babies and they loved their sleep. I'm sure its nothing to worry about(:

That is awesome!!! my three year old still has a two hour sleep in the afternoon after a 12hr sleep at night, they need sleep never deprive them of sleep as their brain and body does most developing while they sleep, sleep creates sleep which is never bad, unless it's because they are lacking in vitamins or something but otherwise they are full on full of energy and need their sleep, my daughter when she was two and a half had 12hrs at night then a 2hr in the morning and 2hrs in the afternoon everyday and the only reason why she stopped that was because of my parents moving house so when I was at work (at my parents place) she didn't like sleeping upstairs because it was scary for her lol but otherwise she would have still been having her two 2hr sleeps, so well done doing an awesome job, just remember sleep is sooooo good for them!! :)

I wish my kids slept like that! My boss told me her son used to sleep from 7pm until 11am. He did not nap during the day. Her pcp told her of he wants to sleep, let him, because developmentally he was hitting all his milestones and sleep helps him grow.

Hi, I'm kind of concer because my 15mth old baby sleeps from 8pm-7am or 8am. Then he goes to sleep from 11am-3:30pm. An I just don't know if that's normal. His pcp told me that he had exessive sleep and that was not normal. Does anyone have toddler in the same situation???

Some babies take two naps until 18 months and beyond. You're son knows better than anyone else how much sleep he needs :) My son is 2.5 years and sleep up to 12 hours at night and takes a 3-3.5 hour nap.

no... babies and toddlers are recommended to get about 15 hours of sleep. Your son is doing well.

My daughter up until she was 2 slept 12 - 13 hours at night, with out waking up and 3 to 4 hours during the day. All babies are different and some need more then others.

No - babies are better off with too much sleep than not enough - and generally good day time nappers and good night time sleepers = happy baby and mummy!

Your sons sleep pattern sounds about right to me. Very shortly he will combine his sleep into one long sleep at lunch time until he does not need a nap at all around 30 months to 3 years. Lucky you is all I can say, all three of mine went to the lunch time sleep about 14 months old. make the most of the peace and quiet it wont last.

not at all! This is great that he sleeps so much. It's normal, actually. I pretty much live by the book, Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child, and he says that is just right. I think my first had that schedule, including the second nap, until about 18 months.

I think if my 30 year old boyfriend could maintain that sort of sleep cycle without me poking at him and bugging the hell out of him, he would.

My son hasn't slept more than 12-13 hours in a 24-hour period since he reached 1 year.
That being said, I know plenty of other mothers whose children sleep just like yours, so consider yourself lucky to be getting so much down time! My son [now two] has never slept more than 8-9 hours at night. Right now he takes a 1-2 hour nap after lunch[if he desides to take one at all], but I believe at 15 months, he'd take a couple hour long naps.
Really, as long as he seems content with this much sleep, then I say let him. Right now we fight for nap and sleep, so try and enjoy his sleeping pattern now while he still has it.

Both my daughters usually go to sleep around 10pm and wake up anywhere between 9 and 10 am. My youngest (18months) takes about an hour nap at around 12 or 1, then they both take a nap around 4 or 5. I wake my oldest (now 3) up after 30-45 min or so, but the youngest will sleep for the hour. They do just fine, I know 10pm is kinda late for goodnight time and 4 or 5 is also late for them to take a nap. My youngest, Riley (it's a girls name too, I made it one lol) absolutely LOVES to sleep. Holly, obviously my oldest, has to take a power nap at about 4 or 5 because she's wide awake any time before that and is a zombie anytime after if I try and keep her up. If it works for both you and your little one, then I'm sure it's ok. After all, Albert Einstein slept at least 10 hours every night XD

souns like my son at that age, he went from 2 naps to one all by himself when he was ready, he started waking up too early lately so we made bedtime a half hour later. your little one will let you know when things need changing. :)

all babies are different. if he is happy having that much sleep in the day and still sleeping the 12 hours at night that he needs then i wouldn't be worried. if you find he starts waking early in the morning i would suggest perhaps moving his morning forward slowly until he is having just one day sleep in the middle of the day. i think jarmayne (now 2) was still having the 2 sleeps at 15 mths. and sleeping from 7pm-7am aswell. sounds like you've got a great routine happening for your little man. all i would really say is wait for his cues such as early rising or longer morning sleeps as he gets older and adjust as nessasary. :)
