Is this normal behavior for a 10month old boy?

Is it normal for a 10 month old boy to be throwing things around rather violently? He looks like he gets satisfaction out of it! He throws his bear around and then crawls to it and yells at it and then throws it again. He also bangs his toys together really hard and makes this squished up angry face when he does it. He doesn't act out really in any other way...no hitting or kicking, he bites but not in a mean way, just testing stuff out. Is this normal?

Thanks Emily! Yes, he does the angry face and it is a little scary!! thanks for your comment, I really appreciate knowing my son isn't the only toy abuser out there! hahah :)

Totally normal. My son learned how to throw a mean tantrum around that age too. He likes to viciously bite his toy cars while making angry faces too, haha. Its kind of scary but its just a baby thing i guess!

Thanks ladies!! I appreciate knowing my son's not the only kid out there throwing his toys around! I like the idea of taking the toy away for 5 minutes, maybe when he gets a little older, right now he doesn't seem to understand it yet!

Yes, sounds pretty normal to me. My younger boy, now 17 months, did the same stuff. He has always been much more, well, aggressive than his brother. Now he's more active and interested in playing outside and running and throwing balls and stuff. His brother was always pretty calm and now is more interested in reading and playing quietly. Just differences in their personalities. Seems to me like boys tend to be more aggressive in general, too. He's probably just figured out another way to express himself and is practicing it.

My second son has always thrown things.  He is 2 now and he still throws toys constantly.  My son's is out of frustration because he has a hearing problem but he also really enjoys sports.  That is something that developed around 11/2.  He likes any sports ball he can get his hands on and if he can't find one he just throws whatever he can get his hands on.  You may try getting him some soft sports toys and play pass with him and try to associate that those are the only toys you are supposed to throw.  It has started to work for us.  When he throws something that is not a ball I take it away for 5 min. and then give it back to him.  Good luck!
