Hi. My 2 year old son keeps having the occasional nose bleeds. They're not everyday, but when it happens, it happens a few times that day. It's not the random bloody booger either, it's actually pouring out his nose. It's always enough to mess up his clothes, b/c I never have enough time to quickly grab a tissue without it dripping on his shirt. It happened twice today and also back in July. Is this anything I should be terribly concerned about? I'm askig b/c I'm not really worried about it b/c I have the occasional nose bleed due to bad sinuses. My mother thinks I should have it checked out and I could see her point if this was everyday, but it once every 6 months??? Should I be worried more than I am???

It sounds like it might be a dry nose and it bleeds probably when it's too dry. Try using vasaline under his nose. This can happen in change of the weather, either it's too hot out or too cold.

No...dont be worried... do have it checked out but it is most likely that the sinuses of your son are dry and the bloody noses start. Both of my brothers since toddlers have done this and three of my nephews do this now...mostly due to dry air/irritants in the sinuses.

My daughter had nose bleeds 4-8 times a week, and i took her to the doctor, he said it was because her nose itched so she scratched it and ended giving herself a nose bleed which became an endless cycle cause it would get itchy again, he recommended this nose ointment called Secaris (i may have spelled it wrong as your doctor) which moisturizes the skin inside the nose and relieves the itching, talk to your doctor anyway cause at first it was only once in a while that she had these nose bleeds. It never hurts to ask.

If you see this, leave this form field blank.

I have a friend who's very worried about her son. He never had a nose bleed until he felt and bump his head on the side walk above the eyebrow. This happened about a month ago and now he bleeds everyday and its I lot. Am worried cause I have taken him to his pcp and ER and no one can help me. I do have an appointment with the specialist coming up! Any suggestion would be helpful.......

My husband has the same problem, and so does a friend of my daughter's. It always happens when the weather changes. I don't get bleeds but my allergies act up, due to the dry air. Maybe try Little Noses saline solution. It's just saline, so you can use it whenever you want, just to keep those sinuses lubricated.

Thanks. I think I'll wait to have it checked, seeing is how I have the same problems and he's fine now. Nose Bleeds twice a year hardly seem worth running to the doctor. My mother never paniced when it was me, but now that it's my kids, she's ready to bring out the stretcher! I'll wait and see if it happens again soon. Of course, he has gotten into the nasty habit of picking his nose, so he very well could have poked to far up there. Thanks again!
