My 4 year old won't sleep alone. what should i do?

I have to lay next to her every night in order for her to go to bed and i usually try to go to my own room once she's asleep, but if she wakes up in the middle of the night she will come find me and wither climb into bed with me or cry until i go into her room and sleep next to her. how do i break this habbit?

i am doing this with my stb 2 year old little boy... all you gotta do is take it step by step. i ask him if he wants to sleep in his bed... he lays there for a little bit and then comes to my bed. i let him fall asleep in my bed then put him in his... you gotta take it slow and steady.

Ohhh! The biggest blunder of them all...

It's going to take a while to break this one- however they say, if you can stick at it for 2 weeks, the habit will be broken!

I'd just start saying that its HER time to go to sleep, you will be in the next room. Is she scared of something in her room? Perhaps give her a comfort toy and a night light...

I think, reassuring her that you are still there, just in another room, and giving her soemthing of comfort will help.
