For the first time tonight i only gave her water in her bottle instead of milk. Is it ok to still give her a bottle at night.

My daughter is also 19 months. She was completely off bottlesby 10 months, and completely off sippy cups just before 18 months. She uses a regular plastic cup. She has little ones, but sometimes she wants the big cups that me and my husband use so we let her use them. Bottles are bad for your child's teeth, not only bc of what's in them, but because of the position their tongue is in when they suck on them. It's really the same for sippys. It can cause speech delays or a lisp if used too long. Its recommended that kids be off bottles by 12 mo and off sippys by 18 mo. Bottles and sippys use a sucking with your tongue pushing out, while cup drinking uses the tongue to push up to push the fluid back, which is better for your teeth and muscles for talking properly. It can by a little messy at first, but my daughter actually did quite well when I switched her to a cup. She still spills occasionally if she's reaching for something or sets the cup on the edge of something, but it really hasn't been bad. She gets milk with meals and water with snacks or inbetween if she's thirsty. She loves drinking it from a cup like mommy and daddy!

My daughter is three and she sleeps with a sippy cup. Water only, though. Anything else is bad for kids' teeth.
