I recently did a job at a daycare center that had a massive shigella breakout. My company had to go in and clean everything that is in reach of an adult or a child. We had to disinfect to make sure all the bacteria was gone so they could open back up. It takes 3-5 days after being exposed to shigella to show symptoms. Well 3 days later my 4 yr old ended up with a fever. A FEVER IS THE FIRST SYMPTOM OF SHIGELLA. So I immediatly brought him to urgent care because I know shigella can hospitalize you if you let it get to bad. The doctor said he has strep throat and possibly shigella. I have to get a poo sample to know for sure, but my son will not poop in the container they gave him. Every time he goes he flushes the toilet before I get in there. How to I get a poo sample? Can I get it out of the toilet or can it not get water on it? I've never had to do this before so I have no idea how it works. I need to get this done asap. I need any advice.. THANKS SO MUCH!!
