My toddler bumps his head on things purposly

my son just dose it for fun he see something hard and he just bangs his head and laughs... thankfully he doesn't do it in a tany he just rolls around on the floor..

My son does this, but he isnt mad when he does it and he gets plenty of attention. Its confusin why he does it. he will run and bump his head on the wall or hit his head on a window or just falls down, looks at me and smiles. The only thing i can think of is he wants attention or he is just doin it to see my reaction or experimenting with feelings?

Not all wee little ones do this so naturally Mums worry when they have one who does. Totally normal? Not totally as it can be a sign that he/she is lacking skills to deal with a situation ... you be the judge. Then react accordingly.

My daughter does this too. We've tried to ignore it, and it almost went away -- she still does it when she's extremely tired and angry -- but now she smacks herself in the face. Trying to give this one the ignoring treatment too, but it's hard!

I little boy does the same thing, he banged his head on the floor so hard today it scared me to death, I almost took him to the hospital, I had to watch him real close for two hours and wouldn't let him take his nap. From what my family and friends have told me it's very common.

yes this is ever normal and when my son would do this i would not say anything to him and after a few weeks he had stoped .

yes its normal my daughter went through this too it was her way of working through what ever was ticking her off.. we just stopped giving her the attention when she started to it unless she was actaully hurting herself and after a couple times of doing it and not getting mommy and daddy's sttention from doing it she thought hmm i guess thats not worth it

My son did the same when he was little. It made me upset in the beginning but soon realised he was manipulating me into giving in to what he wants etc. I started ignoring it and it stoped. It was when he was between 1.5 & 2.5 years old. Today, at almost 4 he has a terible temper but at least do not do that anymore. Good Luck and be strong. Just keep an eye for possible serious injuries that could occur. Take him out of the situation without talking and put him in a safe place.

yes its very normal my son use to do it alot till i payed no attion to him and when he chucks a tanty i put in a safe place so he can have a tanty but cant hurt him self
