My babiies cough just wont go away? does anyone have any natural suggestions? My doctor recommends strongly against cold or cough medicine for my 2.7 year old daughter...if you have suggestions i'll take them!

The honey and lemon drink is the shot,my son 2..3yrs just got over a bad cough /cold and that is what i used,also i had the humidifier on in the bedroom as Jana was saying helps so much!

Try looking at your health shop. There are a few cough medicines that are natural and classed as a health supplement so get past the regulations. Our son took one with echinacea and propolis in it and it works some of the time depending on the type of cough.

honey water or honey tea. warm up a cup of water and stir in about 1 teaspoon of honey. let the baby sip it or put it in the bottle. it will relieve the throat and clear the cough. it'll have to be done periodically throughout the day. even into the next day if its really bad.

My pharmacist wouldn't sell me any cough syrup for my 21 month old so I know how helpless you feel when you can't give them anything to ease a cough. My son had a really tickly cough following a bout of croup. I found that giving him a teaspoonful of runny honey (not too close to bedtime, it's full of sugar!) eased it and he slept through that night without a peep. Hope that helps.

Just putting honey on the back of her tongue helps keep the tickle away which often causes a cough. Aswell my mother always puts mentholatom (commonly known as vicks) on the soles of her feet at night to ease a cough, I do that for my daughter aswell and it seems to help.

Someone else posted this idea a while ago and it helped my daughter when she had a cough that wouldn't go away. She was about 1 1/2 years when she drank this. Warm up some water and mix in some honey and lemon juice then just have them drink it. It's basically lemonade but made with honey. Then at night have a humidifier running next to her bed to help things stay moist to help break up some of the gunk. I should mentioned this worked for my daughter when she had a phelmy cough, not sure if it will work if your daughter has a dry or "wet" cough. Good luck and I hope she stops coughing soon.

Try whole foods, they have natural medicines but they aren't usually fda approved. You can also run a very hot shower and sit in the bathroom with the fan off and the door shut to let the steam loosen up the cough, just don't let her touch the water. If she has a sore throat, warm lemonade is what my mother always recommended.
