My step daughter literally cut off all the hair at her bio-moms yesterday...I mean there is no hair on the left side of her head, YOU CAN SEE HER SCALP!!!! What do I do??? We have custody of her all of the time except every other weekend...Im not sure how her mother could have let her do this but tha'ts not my main concern...it is going to take YEARS to grow back her shoulder length hair and she starts school in August!!!! We are going to Disney world in April and her new hair cut will be in every picture...Im not concerned about the image but what other kids her age will say to her and she is already so sensitive...what do I do, can I buy a wig??? Im at a loss!

my daughter a week ago cut her left side of her hair off to like bangs . and the back of her head when i try to put it in a pony tail there are tiny spots cut to her scalp ... so its looks like i wont be putting her hair up any time soon haha it will grow back fast i know her hair is at her shoulders now

YIKES! I can honestly say I would be dumbfounded on what to do if my own girls did anything even close to that! Since I do not have any actual experience with this, yet (and I seriously hope it stays that way), I hope that a hair dresser can help, and I'm thinking you'll probably want to even it all our the best you can. Wow, the whole left side huh? I think one ladies idea about the head band is cute too; especially with some cute bows or flowers on it. May God bless you and keep your nerves! Oh I know I would need it! :)

Been there done that. My daughter cut her bangs (we had just grown them out and they were just as long as her middle of the shoulders hair). She cut them all the way to a boys cut. There was no saving it unless I wanted the rest of her hair cut like a VERY short boys cut. We too were going to Disney World about 2 wks after she did this. We have some memorable pictures (which we laugh about today). Would a cut hat work or a thick headband that would cover the area where she cut? We did the headband trick for awhile. One thing that did end up happening with my daughter is that at first she wanted to wear her headband when she was going to be seeing her friends, but as time went on she became to realize that beauty is from the inside out not the outside in....neat lesson that came from this. The hair does grow back fast too (not always fast enough) but it won't take long before it will be long enough to do some cute hair cuts. Also talk with your hair stylist....they can do some amazing things that help hide those fun cuts.

Haha - I think we gave my mom plenty of "just breathe" moments. and I am pretty sure I cut my hair with those wonderful blunt nosed toddler scissors too! ;) So there wasn't even inherent danger involved.

Just wait until she is a teenager and can do things on her own. I can't even remember how many times my brother came home from a friends house with multi colored hair.

Hey Hannah, I gave myself bangs too when my mother told me I couldn't have them :)

It is just hair - take a deep breath! it's amazing how quickly kid's hair grows. My oldest needs her bangs trimmed every 4 weeks or they're hanging in her eyes. I think you'll be surprised by how much grows back come April.

I agree with all the other moms. Take a deep breathe, and realise, "this is just hair, and it will grow back" as my own mother would say to herself. Goodness knows how many times my brother and I gave ourselves and each other hair cuts. One of the most infamous was when I gave myself "bangs" the day before kindergarten.

I agree with the 1st post. Go to the hairdresser and see what they can do. It will grow back faster than you think. It's hard to tell how short she will have to go because I can't see it. I'm a hairdresser and I've seen so many kids do this! Some kids cut shorter than others. From your description it sounds like she did a number. A-symmetrical cuts are in style now, although are very trendy and maybe too grown up looking for your step-daughter. I wouldn't get a wig because she probably won't want to keep it on at her young age. All I can say is that it will grow faster than you think and once it's to her chin it will look adorable in a little bob! And of course, not that I need to tell you this, but good nutrition will make it grow faster. Good luck.

I agree with Vicki. You will have to get a short hair cut done. My daughter has done that, but no to that extreme. How old is she? Oh wow, I don't even know what to say :/

I would just be grateful she didn't cut herself. Take her to the hairdresser to get a funky short cut done, and buy a groovy hat. It's only hair, it probably won't take as long to grow back as it took to grow in the first place (some kids' hair doesn't grow very fast in the first year or two).
