Pointing with middle finger. Doe's this mean anything?

I have a 2.5 year old son, and he uses his middle finger to point to things and do things with. He doesn't know what the meaning of the middle finger is, but it just looks bad. He started using his pointer finger as a younger toddler but around 2 he uses his middle finger. Is there any reason behind this I should be concerned about? I do remind him to use his poiner.
Thanks, Jenny

I don't think it's anything to be concerned about. I worked in a daycare with 2 and 3 year old children and most of them would point with their middle fingers and my 3 year old nephew does the same thing as well. I would just keep reminding him to use the pointer finger. Good Luck.

My Daughter did that for a little while. I don't think it really means anything.

We thought it was kinda funny because my Grandpa used to point w/ his middle finger. He passed away when she was (almost) 5 months old, so it reminded us of him when she started to do it. I miss him a lot, so it was nice.

My daughter dose it too ! I was worried an then I just realized that its her longest finger so if u think about it the kid is just being smart thinking the longest finger will be easier to do things . Lol

My son never pointed with his middle finger. The pediatrician actually asked which finger he points. Apparently most children point with the middle finger.

Nothing to worry about. My lamost 5 yr old daughter does this too. No one thinks anything of it. She doesn't know the middle finger is used by adults to make mean gestures to others. I wouldn't worry about it.
