Ready for Potty Trainning?

How do I know if my daughter is ready to be potty trainned? She is almost 19 months old. She is very small for her age, but is hitting all her milestones. Haylie hates having her daiper on...weather it's wet or dry. She has recently started to tell me 'Pee Pee' we run to the bathroom...some times she goes and sometimes she doesn't. We do praise her when she goes on the potty...we sing and dace "Haylie peed on the potty chair." Should I start 'really' trainning her? Also she generally wakes up dry in the morning after a long nights sleep.

If you think she is ready I say go for it! But, if you have any doubts or questions I would ask her Pediatrician. My son is 21 months old and his Pediatrician told me at his 18 month check up to go ahead and start potty training. We are working on it, and it's hit or miss. I think they have to learn how to control the need to use the potty before they can really do it. You could also try putting a potty chair somewhere where she can easily get to it, such as in the room where she plays the most (a little gross I know, but as long as you keep it clean, no harm done!) that way if she tells you she needs to potty, you don't have to race to the bathroom and she might go more consistently. Also, you could try taking her to the potty once an hour, give or take, whatever you feel is an appropriate time frame for her. I hope this helps and good luck!

I have just started training my daughter - she is 2.7 and it is going very well. I think that the key is that when you start you go the whole hog. Knickers and no nappies unless sleeping. My daughter is using a potty and the toilet - we have a sticker chart and a lolly jar. If she is happy going to potty I say go for it.
