Son pooping in back yard.

This is something that seems to have started this past spring since he is coming off of diapers. I send him or him and his big sis out to the back yard and rather then come inside he poops out there. Pee is no big deal with them but i really don't want to have to pooper scooper my sons poop lol. Thankfully his old sister hasn't taken to this habit as well. But are there any effective ways to deal with this, or should i just let it go for now?



I have told him we potty inside which he said that he peed outside so why couldn't he poop. So any input would be helpful.

put the potty outside and insist that he use it for pee and poop

Oh I went through this with my son. He said since the dog did it he wanted to too. LOL. I just kept telling him over and over no we dont go potty outside. It took a while

Our son used to poop in the backyard too. It stopped after several times of us telling him only the animals go outside to poop and he needs to do it in the potty. It's likely just a phase and once the message gets through that it's not OK, he'll stop. Whether he starts going in the bathroom again is another headache.

Diane i'm sure my daughters reaction along with my initial overreaction drives it as well. As she will tell me but you can tell her little 6 year old brain is amused.

Ignore the yukky, praise the good....lol. We lived in the country and my son thought it was ok to poop in the yard also. HIs sisters thought it was hysterical so,of course, thats what he did. He did outgrow it without to much trouble on our parts, we did start having him "pooperscoop" his own #$#$. haha Oh kids, this well be hysterically funny when you get to tell his future girlfriend to watch out if you ever go on a picnic..LOL My son is now 20, if he poops outside I dont know about it. Keep a sense of humor and this too shall pass.

That's how old my daughter is. I am having a hard time potty training her too. I just took her diapers away and she realized she doesn't like to be wet, so she goes in the toilet. Then she get's her 5 M and M's.

You should try it!

How old is he? Praise him for going poop INSIDE. Give him about 5 M and M's. That's what I do with my daughter whenever she goes on the toilet and she's been doing really well.
