Starting to think about moving my toddler into her toddler bed.

Does anyone know of any good children's books about switching to a toddler bed that I could start reading to my 2 1/2 yo to prepare her for when we change her crib into the toddler bed?

We switched to a toddler bed at 18 months and a full-sized bed at 2 1/2 years. She took to both changes very well! She liked the "big girl" bedding and we put some of her babies in there with her. It just all depends on the child and how they take to change. She did start getting out of the bed, but we just take her back in and tell her to go to sleep. Some nights are easier than others! Good luck!

you can go online and type in free books to teach child to sleep in own bed and they might have some or you can go to the library and see if they have some there.

We didn't have any issues with our 20 month old. At 17 months she climbed out of her crib while in full tantrum. That day I ordered the toddler bed, it took two days to get here. For those two nights we talked about sleeping in a big girl bed. When it arrived we put the crib into the day bed position so she could climb in and out of it safely. The toddler bed we picked had small side rails so she could feel like she was still in the crib.
She sometimes will get out of bed and go to the door when she is having a hard time falling asleep. She has slept a few times on the floor, but when we hear her get out of bed we just remind her to sleep in her bed.

To tell you the truth, I haven't heard of any books like that. My daughter was moved because the doctor told us that at its lowest point, the railing on the crib shouldnt be below your childs nipple line. It could be dangerous. Our daughter was fine being moved. We had to stay in the room at first to get her used to it. She loved being able to just climb into bed on her own. It was quite funny. But she got used to us laying with her so when we had our second child and my husband worked overnite shifts, it was really hard. Just talk to her about it, maybe put the bed in the room with her crib, get her used to it being in there, let her try it for a few naps. Just slowly transition her. That's the best advice I could give you. Kids are really adaptable. I taught preschool so I know that from experience. But all kids are different. Just feel it out and go how you think you should. No one knows better than Mommy! Happy Mother's Day!
