Toddler Crafts/Activities?

I am looking for any and all suggestions for toddler crafts or activities. My son is 18 months old and sometimes it just seems like the same ol same ol, and I would like something new and fun for us to do together. Anythink you can think of please share, I would love to hear all opinions on this! Thanks in advance :)

You might want to see if there is a toddler time program in your local area check libraries, preschools, and community centers. We attend a twice a month program at the preschool attached to our church we get a chance to interact with other kids and their moms and the activities have been great for repeating at home.

This week we played at a water station exploring what floats (straws) and what sinks (small toys), used watercolors to paint a rainbow printout (my son explored how watercolors dye water), read a book/sang a song/did a finger play about rain, then used markers, glue/glitter and construction paper to make wind socks. Some weeks my son is interested in all the activities other weeks his attention waxes and weans over the hour, but I still feel its worth the $6.50 we pay for a session.

Some other activities that have been a success at our house include visiting the virtual zoo (pull youtube videos of animals), helping with chores my son sorts the forks and spoons while I unload the dishwasher and he also likes me to hand him wet laundry to put in the dryer, simple puzzles with big pieces with knobs (Melissa & Doug makes a great variety), setting up a music station my son loves playing on my husbands big Casio keyboard, we also go on outings to the library, grocery store, and he especially likes to visit pet stores.

My son will be two next month so some of these activities may be a little old for your little one if so give it some time and try again - they grow so fast!

I recently got my son who is 20 months old some crayola color wonder markers, paints, and papers. The ink in the markers and paints are clear until they hit the special paper, then they change to color. My son loves to color with crayons and draw as well. I also got him a Magnadoodle and we don't go anywhere without it now. It keeps him quiet and busy in the car, at home, even while he's siting in the shopping cart. I'd say it's the best $15 investment I've ever made! We also go to the park, library, and play on his swingset in the back yard.

Finger painting with baby food. Messy, but so fun and safe if he sticks his fingers in his mouth! Cut an old juice carton to make a bird feeder and let him stick colored contact paper to decorate it. We did this at story time, she loved it!

There is a website called www.icanteachmychild.com that has lots of ideas for that age group. Things like sticky leaves bracelet where you get some parcel tape and your child sticks leaves to it to form a braclet. This is a good website and one I have visited many times.
