I have a 2 yr old daughter who has a cousin of the same age. We all live with my daughter's grandmother. I should also mention that both are girls. Well this is the only grandmother that my daughter has seeing as though my mother passed away. I have noticed that the cousin gets more attention from my mother in law. My daughter is potty trained for the most part. We were working on night time potty training and were doing really good until a few nights ago when she peed her bed. I didnt yell at her or anything obviously seeing as though she is only 2. But i was wondering is it possible that my daughter has caught onto the fact that her cousin gets more attention and is possibly jealous and is it possible that this has caused her to regress in potty training? Does anybody have any tips or advice for me??

thanks everybody for your help!! you guys did make me realize that i was reading all too much into everything....since this post she has been doing pretty good with the night time potty training. kids will be kids right :]]

I think you will find that she has not caught on to this favouritisum yet but she will. My sons where brought up always being second best with my mother in law as she favoured her daughters children over mine and still to this day does.It angered me so much but nothing has changed. I can not get her to treat my children the same even though my sons are now adults. My kids on the other hand just accepted it and have never acted out about it. I think you will find she is unaware of any favoritisum from your mother in law and that the wet bed is just one of those things.

chances are she just had an accident...I wouldn't try and figure it out past that. She's still young and its going to happen. She could have drank more fluids than normal, been in a deep sleep and didn't wake up etc etc...my son is 4 1/2 years old and still wears a pull up to bed. Oh well...such is life.

all toddlers have good days n bad when potty trainning i think its highly unlikely it has anything to do with what your saying and the more you go on about the more likely your daughter will catch on to it. just sit down with your mil and explain how you feel.
