Vaginal opening has closed over?

I was wiping my 20 month old daughter tonight after a number 2, and suddenly noticed that her vaginal opening is no longer there. I'm sure she had one when born but it is completely disappeared. I read on the net that if they have an infection it can actually fuse itself and heal and close up. She had really bad nappy rash when she had a case of the trots a few months ago and has recently gotten over a case of golden staph infection.

Im wondering if there are any other mothers who have had the same or similar thing happen. I cant get her to a doctor until monday and am feeling a bit scared for her. Would appreciate some advice and support. Thank you :o)

I took her to the doctor but as yet no outcome. She definitely doesnt have one so the Dr sent a referall to the Womens and Childrens Hospital. That was almost a month ago now, and still nothing. Not even a letter to tell me they have received the referral! But the Dr did say that it shouldnt be a problem until puberty so awhile off for that. Thank you for your kind comments Samantha : ) My main concern I guess is that Im worried if everything else is there internally. I guess I can only wait and see.

hello

My 6 months old girl does not have a vaginal opening. Dr prescribed premarin cream for 7-10 days
Do you put the ointment onto the area or rub it as well?
My Dr adviced me to rub it as well. Please suggest as I'm confused if I should rub it

Kristie Lea. I used cream on my little one and hers eventually opened up by itself so I had a good outcome. She is all normal now and is 5 years of age. Hopefully if you see a specialist the same thing will happen to your daughter too. I know how scary it was. Good luck *hugs* :)

Oh I remember changing my baby girls diaper and finding her's mostly closed. I freaked out and drove to my moms to make sure I wasn't crazy lol. They put her on the cream as well it took a few weeks but it opened back up. It happened again and used the cream and it opened again. They told me it was caused by hormones. Good luck!

Thanks everyone. Have seen a specialist and we have tried the oestrogen cream for the past 2 weeks. Unfortunately it hasnt opened her up so will have to go back in 3 months time for a check up. Guess its a wait and see thing.

I was born with mine closed and the doctor had my mom put a cream on it and it opened up. When I was 16 I had a minor surgery called a hymenectomy to open up the inside more because it was barely open enough for my monthly cycle to come through. I have been fine ever since. My kids were all c-section though. I don't know if that caused it or if my pelvis just wasn't wide enough, but my first got stuck and was an emergency c-section. The other two were repeat c-sections. I don't think I have anything too serious with this issue, but it definately needs to be addressed. I sure hope everything works out for you and those doctors get on the ball.

I would call the place your Doctor sent the referell to. I hope everything goes ok. It bothers me that doctors don't realise how much we worry and don't keep us posted. Good luck
