My son just turned one a couple weeks ago and I have started weaning him from breastfeeding to whole milk. He has been primarily breastfed and was getting a few bottles a week (either breast milk or formula). I have been trying to go straight to the sippy cup for the whole milk, but so far have been unsuccessful. I have tried many, many different sippy cups (including the Nuby and straw cups), but my son refuses to drink any kind of milk (breast milk, formula, whole milk, soy milk), warm or cold, out of a sippy cup. He'll take a sip and then make a face and just let it run down his chin. He'll do this two or three times in a row and then he'll just refuse it completely. This has been going on for two weeks now. The only time I gave him a bottle was in the beginning to make sure it was the sippy cup and not the milk he was refusing. He drank down a mixture of half breast milk and half whole milk just fine. I am still nursing two times a day, but he doesn't seem to miss the milk he is not getting from the two feedings I have weaned him from in the past two weeks. Also, he drinks water just fine from a sippy cup. Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution? Is he just not ready to transition to milk in the sippy cup yet? Should I wait and try again in a couple of weeks? Any advice would be appreciated!
