My daughter is 3 1/2 and has been completely potty trained since she was 2.She had severe constipation about a y10 months ago (and is now on a daily dose of miralax to keep her regukated) and ever since she poops in her underwear. She pees in the toilet and the potty perfectly fine though. We assume that she believes that it's going to hurt her butt if she does it on the toilet/potty.She completely refuses to sit and go #2 on the potty. We've tried EVERYTHING and still no change!
We know now that apples bananas and rice can not be included in her diet but we can't seem to make her realize that if it doesn't hurt to do it in her underwear then it won't hurt to do it in the potty/toilet!We are just overwhelmed at this point and are really tired of washing her underwear 3 times a day!I am also pretty embaressed when other family members kind of laugh at the fact that teir younger kids don't dirty their underwear but she does!HELP!!!

For constipation in your toddlers, try to increase their fluid and fiber intake and this should help your toddler. Fruit and fruit juices are an awesome way to accomplish this. Toddlers magic tea is another good option. This is an herbal natural tea with no preservatives.

I wonder if the miralax is making it kinda ... more difficult for her to control it. As far as i knew you weren't supposed to use it for more than a week. Maybe its making it too soft. You've removed the constipation issue with diet.

Maybe make it fun again like you did the first time. Offer sometime huge for the first time she does it again (just have to find out what she really wants first, our bribe with our daughter right now is a new build-a-bear) Do sticker charts, most of all be patient with her. It sounds like she is just scared. I think the more you stress about it the more she will also.

As far as people saying their younger children don't do it, eh each child is different and i'm sure your daughter is ahead in all other aspects. Basically don't worry about what others think.
