What is best for a toddler to drink, besides milk?

very very dilute cordial (kool aid?)
try to stay away from tea as it stops your body breaking down iron properly, which is a definite no no with babies and toddlers.
Another thing to avoid is drinks like orange juice, pineapple juice, passion fruit or strawberry nectars as they are very acidic and can make urination painful, especially for boys.
Aside from that too much cows milk isn't that good for them either, try to just stick with water or fruit juice.
My 3 year old loves peach juice and mango nectar, has a glass of milk before bed and with her weetbix in the morning, and generally only drinks water unless we're in town where she gets the fruit juice if she promises to behave.

water is actually best for toddlers. If your child doesn't like to drink water, you might try adding a squeeze of lemon juice or diluting their apple juice (100% fruit juice is best) with water by about half. I also sometimes will make tea (very very very weak with only a tiny bit of sugar) to add a little flavor to their water. You might also add a little ice to the sippy cup to make sure it's really cold (but I wouldn't suggest the ice if your child drinks from a reg. cup as it may pose a choking hazard). Toddlers consume such a small amount of calories, that the calories they DO consume really shouldn't come from what they drink, but rather healthy foods that they eat. It isn't always easy (I know, my kids LOVE juice boxes. I try to limit those to just 2 or 3 per week). Good luck!!!!
