I try to eliminate the opportunity to say no, I offer choices, it just makes my life easier. So if we need to clean up I say are you going to pick up your blocks first or your game.

Depending on what she is telling me no for. If I'm asking her about something she wants to eat or drink and she tells me no, then fine thats the answer but if she is saying it to me as a back chat, I explain to her thats not how we talk to grown ups and she needs to use her manners. If she's telling us no when we ask her to pick up toys or do something then we simple say that there will be no more playing til the job is done. I dont do time out for saying no as she is voicing her option but she also is pulled up when it isnt right. When she was really little and would say no to everything we used to say yes all the time so she learned the other word!
