When your 2yr old calls others mom...

My daughter calls her nanny and my teenagers mom when they are sitting her. The nanny I understand because she brings her son and that is what he calls her. But the teenagers, I have no clue, it is extremely annoying to my 16 year old who already gets the stink eye enough as it is if we are out and people don't see me. She can actually hear them talking about her (even without her being called mom) and it's usually little old women. I told her to respond with this "I can hear you and by the way this is my little sister, it's my mom that can't keep her legs shut". I would love to see the look on their faces then.

interesting and a bit funny...but i also think this is normal for a toddler. remember that at this age language is relatively new to them and you cannot expect them to be able all the time to differentiate everything.

my son is also 21/2 and he calls every lady/woman-mom, every man-dad,and thinks every little boy almost his age has the same name as himself.

as long as i haven't corrected him-politely- he will call them just that. what i have also leanrt as a first time mom is that we have such high expectations of our children. they however grasp very quickly and will remember almost everything. so be patient and don;t despair

haha thats funny. but its normal for a 2 yr old to call other women/teenage girls mom. its easy for them and they know it will get the women's attention when the 2 yr old wants to be heard or wants them to play. my daughter is 3 and she always called one of my closest friends mom. but she had 2 boys of her own so my daughter thought it was alright. she even called her mom grandma and she was only friends with me. a lot of toddlers go through that stage.
