Why is chocolate making her mean?

My daughter just turned 3 on June 2. She has been fine with chocolate before now, never having any problems with it but now every time she gets any chocolate at all in her she starts to be mean. She attacks our kittens, hits us, throws things and screams at the top of her lungs. It is not just a normal tantrum either, she is no where near this bad when she hasn't had chocolate.

We have always done that if she has been a really good girl she will get a small chocolate egg as a treat and the occasional cup of chocolate milk and she has never had any problems but now the tiniest amount turns her into a holy terror for a couple hours.

Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions or ideas? We have no idea what to do. This only started about 1 week ago and is getting worse. We have already cut all chocolate out of her treats but we want to know what is causing this.

I had the same problem with my son. I talked to his pediatrician and she had me take him to an alergist. He was allergic to chocolate and it was affecting him internally.

Honestly I don't know but my thought would be the sugar in the chocolate is sending her into hyper drive and she doesn't know what else to do with the feelings. She may even have some kind of allergy to chocolate but I really don't know. I would just keep her off chocolate completely and bring it up at her next appt. If you want to offer a sweet it could easily be vanilla or strawberry whatever. Or something else.
