My husband and I are flying back to the States next week and will be heading to Cali which is a nine hour time difference to Belgium where we reside. Our daughter, Cécilia will be 10m and I'm still breastfeeding four times a day.

I've already flown with her on my own to Michigan which is a six our time difference and it took about two weeks for her to get back to a "normal" feeding/sleeping routine. (The entire time I was visiting my family.) They say to expose the children to a lot of light so they get used to the time difference but STILL! I'll be doing night feedings again and am not sure how it'll work and am a slightly stressed. It'll probably more work for me than her! LOL!

Anyway, I was just curious to know some other mother's experiences. :0)

Hi Sara,

I flew the 10h from Johannesburg to London and then onwards to Ireland last year with my 7 month old. Although it's only a one hour time difference, it was still a challenge - luckily I was still breatfeeding and I just fed on demand the whole way. Kept him happy.

With my older boy we flew between RSA and Australia via Dubai/Singapore and also vie Hong Kong (HUGE challenge never again) - I kept extra formula ready in case he wouldn't eat anything else, and as for the time difference I just let him sleep immediately when he was tired and then also immediately fell down. It does take some time, and you can't give them melatonin which would otherwise help a lot. Just rest as much as you can and don't try too press too hard.
