toys/entertainment for 2 year old on car trip

We are going to San Antonio in September from St. Louis with are then 2 year old and 10 month old. Anybody have suggestions of any good toys or other entertainment ideas for a 2 year old since it will take us a whole day to drive. We plan on stopping every couple of hours to let the kids out but would like to have some fun things to do in car. We do have dvd players and plan on taking a few dvds but I don't want them watching those the whole time.

Hi some colouring books and pencils/crayons. A favourite toy perhaps. We are actually flying to San Antonio with our 3y.o. daughter in September and are taking a range of things for her to do. I found a magnetic book with letters that she'll be able to play with, some of favourite story books. You could also take some your child's favourite songs to sing with them in the car.
