What I heard and read is that your man decide the sex yes, but.. As per the Shettles Method, the theory is that the Y sperm (boy) are faster swimmers yet don't live as long and are not as strong as the X sperm (girl) So to make it short: Boy sperm get there faster but die faster and girl sperm take longer to go up but will live longer. It says also in my great book that if you want a girl, to have sex 3 days before ovulation with frequent ejaculation which will decrease the Y sperm and the more X sperm will be waiting for the egg. Also to retain from orgasm as it will only help to weak male sperm get higher. Use the missionary position (even if the OB says that it doesn't matter - When you want a baby you try to make it happen the sooner the better) For a boy baby you should have sex the day of ovulation, use the rear-entry position. Also said to have your man drink something coffeinated and hours before sex to speed up his boy-making boys. For a girl eat lots of of veggies and pile of chocolate and that it is full moon. For a boy lying on your right side with the quarter moon and eat lots of red meats. Of course there is a 50-50 chance. But all that slow and fast sperm make kind of sense to me. I thing it is worth a try !!! If you get the book called: "What to expect before your expecting" on page 121 - 123 says a lots of tip to get a girl of a boy. Good luck !!!

I am trying to conceive a boy and found with all of the different methods it was VERY confusing. SOOO, I am going with the Chinese calendar in hopes it works. I have two girls, it seems the "odds" might be stacked in favor of girls. lol

I used the Shettles Method that Julie mentioned to have a boy (1st) and a girl (2nd). We are currently trying for a 2nd boy. The real key to its success is to have a very predictable cycle. My cycle is exactly 28 days and I ovulate on day 14 every single time, so it was pretty easy for me.

I agree with Julie my sister had 2 girls an wanted a boy so they did everything they could to help, first of all never think about having the sex u dont want or even have a name picked, if u wanna a boy make sure u have sex day 14 after u start bleeding at night time doin it from behind and make sure you have an orgasm as this will make you less likely to kill off the male sperm, this worked for my sister an she had a baby boy.

I have gone back and looked at when I conceived with my boys and it said both times they should have been girls. I'm a little sceptical and starting to think I'm just destined to have boys. My hopefulness for a little girl has me thinking that maybe for me it's the opposite and where it says that it should be a boy then maybe it will be a girl. What are anyone elses thoughts??

I am trying it now. Unfortunately my hubby works away in the mines so he isn't home too often which makes it difficult. April is the month for us, we are trying to conceive a girl(already have two gorgeous boys). So I'll keep you updated if I actually get pregnant and what the sex is. Are you trying to conceive a particular sex or just interested in the topic?

They say it's a myth, b/c there is no scientific evidence blah blah blah. They say the man is the one who decides the gender, blah blah blah. I should have had a boy, if that was the case. There is only 1 girl for every 5 boys born in his family. I am the 5th in a row female 20yrs apart, so it's only natural my child, born when I was 20 was a girl. Only if the man has nothing to do with it! Ha! I say "they" are only guessing. Good luck!
