Cereal?? Has anyone started?

i started my girls on rice cereal about 6.5 months or a corrected age of 4.5 months. They didnt take to it very well at the start but by around 7 months they were taking a few teaspoons. They now have fruits and veges twice a day at 8 months and will soon start a 3rd meal. They have been mainly sleeping thru since 4 months 630-630. Yah

i started my twin girls on rice cereal at about 3 1/2 months.. they both started screaming at 4 in the evening everyday, since giving them the cereal that has stopped!! i give them cereal and some tea in the mornings and in the evenings they have three spoons of rice cereal in there bottles.. they are now much happier babies. they are now 4 months (well, 3 they were prem) .. and last night they both slept through from 10 till 5...

My doctors GI doctor (on of them has severe Reflux/gerd) told me to give her KERNS Nector juice to help with the binding problem. Also, one of the meds shes on helps move stuff through too. I put about 1 - 2 oz of the juice in with her rice bottles about every other bottle and that has really seemed to keep her regular.

My twins were born early at 32 wks, and at 4 mos we put them on cereal to help w/reflux. Gotta watch that cereal though, it'll bind them up pretty bad and they can't go potty. We had to switch to oatmeal cereal, seems to move through them better.

mine were breastfed/well i pumped cuz they were in the NICU for so long for 2 months.. but they are formula fed now Neosure.. the rice helps them sleep a lot better I think and thats especially nice having two. my one didnt seem satsified with just the formula and now she doesnt seem to eat as often. I guess some moms dont feel the rice helps them sleep and some do. all I know is mine have been sleeping pretty much through the night for a couple months now, maybe only getting up once.

Best advice I can say is do what you feel is right for your babies and defentally the advice of the pediatrician.

I started my twins on cereal a little before four months because their bottles just didn't satisfy them any more and shortly after that we started baby food.  We started them at 1 table spoon and now they are on three table spoons at eight and a half months and we give it to them twice a day.

My ped told us to start cereal at 3 months if they weren't sleeping very well.  I did that and it made a world of difference!  I just made it in a bottle and gave it to them that way.  About half way through that month, I stopped having to wake up at night and feed them.  I started stage 1 fruits and veggies at 4 months.  I also started feeding them the cereal with a spoon at 4 months.  They are still a little below average weight wise.  It helped me get some sleep so I was super excited!

I was asking because it seems that everthing i read they are suppose to start cereal at 4 mths.  I am not scheduled to go to the ped until 3/7 so i am waiting until then to hear what she says.  Also, one of my girls is starting to get up earlier and earlier and another mom mentioned that it could be becuase she needs more than the formula. 

BTW they are formula fed and were born at 37 weeks @ 6.7 and 5.7lbs.

also, it depends on if they were very preemie or not. my girls are 6 months but do everything and are considered 4 months of age, so my doc said I would start them on food when they are supose to be 6 months (due date wise) which they would be 8 months. does that make sense?

my pedi recomened at 4 months but i waited till they were closer to 5.5 months. They are now on cereal and veggies/fruits..they are doing great on it but hasnt helped with sleeping at night but then again they are teething big time and supper fussy

I started rice cereal near the middle to end of 5 months because my little boy seemed to be hungry even after he nursed.  My little girl didn't really start til 6 months.  Why do you want to start them on cereal?  Are they acting hungry? I know cereal didn't help my kids sleep any better which was what I had hoped for at the time.  I started out with a very small amount - a couple of teaspoons and mixed it with breast milk and made the cereal very runny.  My boy took right to it the first time, my little girl had to work on liking it at first.  My sister-in-law started her baby at 4 months because she used formula.  For some reason that made a difference and her pediatrician told her to start with cereal, but i can't remember why at the moment.

One of my twins has to be on Rice ceral bottles. They are 6 months old. she has severe reflux/GERD. I have also started her sister on Rice Ceral bottles but I only add 1 - 2 tbs to her bottle right now to get her use to it.

I was always told not to start them on solids until 6 months, so that is what we did; we did give a tiny bit of rice flour in their last bottle at night before bed from 5 months (they were mostly breastfed, but that bottle gave my nipples a break), and I do think it helped them sleep.
