My 11 month old twins have only been taking one nap a day for the past few days. Nothing else has changed in their schedule and they are still sleeping thru the night. Isn't it to early for them to transition to one nap a day?

My twins are almost 13 months and started taking one nap per day at around 11.5 months. Actually, they were resisting their afternoon nap since they were about 10.5 months, but since I'm on my own with them during the day, I still put them in their cribs, tummies full, diapers changed, lights off and door shut to give them (or maybe me??) a little down time. Their morning nap was a rush of me having breakfast, showering and god forbid, washing and drying my hair. So I really needed their afternoon nap to continue, or to hire help. I hired help, needless to say. But now they take a 3-4 hour nap in the afternoons. They continue to sleep through the night as always.
Interestingly, I just read from a mom on one of my mother's groups that her 20 month olds are now back to taking two naps per day, probably because all of the extra physical activity. They are shorter naps though, of about 1 to 1.5 hours each.
So to answer, no it's not too early for them to transition themselves. Just roll with it, and do a little experimenting with the times. See how long they can stay up in the morning, but be sure to feed them before they get too tired to eat.
You might even find that the one nap schedule works out better and allows more time for playdates and classes.
