Hi well to start off my name is Victoria and i live in South Yorkshire UK. I am 25 years old and i have been with my partner for 6 years. We have a 2 year old daughter and on the 1st May 2012 i found out i was expecting again. It was only early days so we only told close family about the news. I booked my self an appointment with my midwife at 8 weeks and then i recieved my scan date letter through the post. Me, my partner and my little girl all went to the hospital and as i laid down on the bed the sonographer said "do twins run in your family?" i replied straight away with " no we dont have any on either side, why?". It went quiet for a few seconds then as she turned the screen round we saw this amazing sight. I am having TWINS.........
Everythig went so fast from then and i was quickly told that there was no membrane between the babies but that all was ok and they are 13weeks 5days. We were asked to wait outside for a few moments while the sonographer went to get me my change. Just then a midwife called out my name and asked us to follow her into this room. She then explained that i would have to book an appointment with a specialist doctor as my twins were Monoamniotic Monochorionic. At the time i was unsure what this ment and just said ok. After calling up all the family members to tell them the wonderful news i decided to research Mono-Mono twins to find out a little more about my little munchkins. It was then i was faced with all of these awful scary facts about Mono-Mono babies i did not no what to do i read many stories about poor expectant mothers that had sadly lost their babies during pregnancy and after birth due to all of these complications. I also read then about how rare this case of twins is im excited but very nervous and i was wondering if any one else has gone through this and could help me through this. thanks everyone x
