Is it a burning pain high on the left side of your abdomen? If yes, it could just be your muscles splitting. I had a similar pain that had me very worried. This is what it was. I carried my twins to almost 37 weeks.

Hello fellow moms. I'm almost 26 weeks pregnant and I'm having the same pain as Samantha is describing. This is my 4th pregnancy, and I didn't have it with my girls. I had an ultrasound at 21 weeks and they didn't say I was having twins. Is this pain only common with twin pregnancies? I've been experiencing it since I was 21 1/2 weeks. Do you guys think I should speak with my OB? A lot of my friends and family think that I am having twins, are there other ways besides an ultrasound that they can use to find out if someone is having twins? I get very exhausted just walking for short distances and walking up the stairs in my home. I've tried Tylenol, but it only helps half the time:( Everyone says that I'm having the pain because I'm 26 weeks and that my uterus is growing, but I don't think it's that. I had 3 healthy daughters and they were all pretty nice sizes. I didn't have this pain with them. I'm just looking for some advice ladies. Could it be that I'm having twins? Thanks for your feedback:)

It could be the way one or both of them is positioned. I had pain on my left side when one of mine decided to curl up in my ribs - it sucked - but there was nothing I could do, just wait for her to shift to another position. If you are worried, see you doctor.

I am 27 weeks pregnant with twins and I have a good deal of pain on my left side because one baby spends most of his time on my sciatic nerve. It can cause numbness to my heal and makes it hard to sleep. I would mention it to your doctor or whoever you are receiving prenatal care from just to make sure its nothing more serious. Also,be careful. If it is nerve related your leg can become numb and you can fall. . Always hold a railing when going up or down stairs, and rest when you need to. Also if your doctor okays it occasional tylenol for the pain can help. I find a hot shower eases some ot the pain and makes it a little easier to sleep.

I would see your Dr and get lots of rest. I had pain on my side and went into labor the next day at 28 weeks. Please get it checked out!

I had pain on my right side all through my pregnancy, but after a sonogram it showed that that is where both babies were laying and putting the most pressure.

hey...i hv 3 yr old twin boys..and i can totally relate to wht u're going thru...i had the same kind of pain...just below the ribcage on my left side and it was a constant pain...it started round abt the same time as u..and lasted till the end....its because the baby's position is such...hang in there, once they r born..u'll feel as if the pain was never there :) u can try a gentle massage, tht might help the baby shift a lil or try lying on ur left side with a pillow under u...

It could be the weight of the babies pulling on your sciatic nerve. At the end of my pregnance with twins I had horrible pain that started on my side and went to my back. Sometimes tears would come to my eyes it was so uncomfortable. My doc said the only thing that would help was delivery. I hope your pain feels better soon. Don't use a heating pad on it. Just try and stay comfortable, think of those growing babies!

Is it lower left by your hip--if so I had the same pain from about 20-24 weeks. It was worse when I stood up from sitting. The Dr. attributed it to it being my first pregnancy and the muscles stretching.

I'd get it checked out, just for peace of mind. Do you wear a maternity belt? I can tell you, one of my boys was pretty low and I measured full term (for a singleton) by the time I was 23 weeks with my twin boys - my maternity belt was a life saver! It helped distribute all that weight out in front back toward my back and hips and really cut down on the amount of pain/made it easier to get around. Good luck!

I was like that almost the entire time with my twins. One was laying sideways in my hip I found out. She was squeezing one of my nerves. I wouldn't worry, they just have to lay all kinds of weird ways to fit LOL

Hi Samantha, My twins are 4 1/2 already, but I remember those pains. I had them in both sides, together and separate. For me, they were bands that were stretching, and it can be very painful at times. You just have to take it easy and get lots of rest.
Good luck, Birgit

When I was pregnant with my twins I had a lot of mentrual like cramping and pain on my left side. My boys were both perfectly fine, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I was told the exctra progesterone your body produces can cause it.

I had pain on my left side. It was a pinched nerve. It lasted throughout my entire pregnancy with my twins. Part of my left leg went number from my hip down to my knee. My lower twin was sitting on the nerve and never moved. My leg was still numb for three months after I had the twins. I could hardly walk! There's nothing you can do about it. If the twin won't move, the twin won't move! I feel for you! I went to a chiropractor and a massage therapist. I went to physical therapy. Nothing worked. Let your doctor know.

If you're worried, go see a dr or a midwife. It is normal to get aches and pains everywhere when you're expecting twins but for your own peace of mind I would consult a dr.

God help you, all the pains kinds will be examined with twins pregnancy. this pain because the change in the weghit and the concentration of the weight (on the bottom of the back or on the left or right side)
it will not continue I mean may be only few days and it will disappear
