My twins are not born yet but I've been talking to twin mommies alot. Many of them very down to earth and great sources of info.
first of all 9months is still very young, doesn't sound like something to worry about.
Second I've been told that these delays among others like speech are common in twins because they have each other usually right there next to them. They don't need to move to get to some companionship because it's right there. with speech delays, they can communicate with each other by sounds and gestures so they don't need to speak with the English language. None of these delays tend to last too long. a suggestion I liked was to separate them for short periods put them with a parent for one on one time or have them hangout with a playmate or sibling. If things still seem concerning to you. just check with their pediatrician just in case. But to me they sound fine good luck

my twins are almost a year and my daughter still isn't crawling. It isn't because she can't, it's because she chooses not to. I know she can do it, because I've seen her do it a couple of times before. My son on the other hand is crawling all over the place, and seems like he is going to start pulling himself up on things soon.

My twins aren't born yet, but my second didn't crawl until 9 1/2 months... and she was sitting fully by 6 months. Some kids just don't have a desire to be mobile. My third on the other hand LOVED moving. She started crawling at 6 1/2 months and took her first steps just past 9 months.
I think personalities have a lot to do with when they become mobile, and for twins I would guess that they don't often NEED to go anywhere to play, because their playmate is usually close by. I think part of the reason my third wanted to crawl/walk so early was just so she could keep up with her sisters.

My boys started crawling around 9 months. I think they got a late start because we didn't put them on the floor enough. Once we started put them on the floor daily, they were crawling in no time. Now, only a month later, they are pulling up everything and trying to walk! My suggestion is to put them on the floor as much as possible. And don't get discouraged, some babies never crawl and go straight to walking! I used the Bumbo seats pretty early on so they could get used to sitting up.

Mine were crawling at that age but they were sitting totally on their own. Once they started sitting on the own crawling followed quickly after that. My girlfriend's twins are also 9 mo and not crawling or sitting up consistently on their own. She attributes it to the fact that she usually has them strapped into seats, in a pack and play, or her exersaucer. I had my kids on the floor a lot and they are real explorers. Some babies are just happy with how things are. My friend had her daughter evaluated to see if the was a delay and the nurse didn't think so, nor did the doc. They'll get there...enjoy the lack of movement now. Mine are 11.5 mo, on is cruising and the other has begun to walk. YIKES! It is crazy around here, but lots of fun!
