I always like the "Are they twins?" question then followed by the comment "I always wanted twins". They have NO IDEA!!! =)

I get that all the time.. I have a boy & a girl and they look nothing alike...I keep him in blue and her in pink & people ask me all the time, "which one is the girl?" I"m like, are you serioius???

The two things that I am so sick of hearing is "TWINS!! GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!!" or "DOUBLE TROUBLE". No people its double the fun.

i didnt gain any weight during my 29weeks with twins.. for some reason i always weigh the same and always have.. before, during and then after pregnancy.. i dont understand it.. i was only average weight when i had my first.. but my weight still didnt change.. i weighed more before being  preg with my second.. with the twins i was exactly the same weight i was before my first and was the same weight everytime i got weighed and then the same weight after..

thats hilarious...i still get that and my twins are 3 1/2. some people really need to think about things before they open their mouths to ask crazy questions lol

yea people still ask me to this day if i did it natural or if i used a certian position or something. then it never ends even when i dress them alike (their fraternal) people still ask me if they are twins. i've just learned to not make eye contact for long periods of time when i'm out to avoid some of the ridiculious questions.

I swear some people don't think before they speak. My friend was helping me travel with my twins when they were babies and a lady at the airport said "are they twins?" then she asked if we each gave birth to one?! UUmmm......how is that possible? Some people...... :)

I get asked the question "one boy and one girl?" and I have 2 fraternal girls with pierced ears! It's frustrating and sometimes I snap at people but this is the way it is. Just brush it off and breathe:)

the day b4 the twins arrived.. so i was bout 29weeks.. i had a couple walk past me.. mind you the mans wife was almost ready to pop herself..
as they walk past the man turns to her and said thats the fakest belly i have ever seen.. wat was he thinking? that i had a few pillows stuffed up my shirt to make out i was pregnant..my belly was pretty round actually.. but i cant help wat two different individual inside me are doing..

rachel.. urs do look similar in the photo.. but u can tell just b looking at their faces which is the girl and which is the boy..
i havent been asked if we used fertility drugs... but i get told all the time that im way to fertile.. apart from the twins it took us a few months each time to get pregnant.. the twins it was one day..lol.. i worked out when i ovulated to try just once and it worked that day..lol.. i get starred at all the time and ppl make their rude comments as u walk by.. i get sick of it so i just have a go at the back.. it puts them in their place.. do any of u find that when u r shopping ppl have to come straight towards u but not to stop u, they want u to walk around them.. and abuse u as ur walking towards them... i get it all the time.. there could b noone round me or them but they walk straight for me.. but i dont move.. cose the pram aint gunna get hurt if i hit them.. believe me i have done it a few times.. and ppl complain that u have a side-by-side pram.. y cant u use a behind pram so u dont take up so much space.. but the thing is its a TWIN pram and i have twins.. its not like i have it for a toddler and a newborn. cose when i had a toddler and a newborn i had a tandum pram.. and i find that alot of shops u cant fit into.. my pram is fairly narrow compared to some.. so my thought is if i cant fit in the shop with out moving anything im not going to buy from the shop.. the shop keepers hate me when i say that to them.. lol.. sorry having a vent..

I feel like all eyes are one me when I take my girls out in public. We were eating at Chili's the other day and my niece and I were holding the twins I looked across and the people across were staring at us I saw one of the lady's say I think there twins. Hello same car seats same outfits!!

Plus my boy has black hair & my girl has red/blond hair.... not looking too identical!! She's long and skinny while he's short & chunky.... they look NOTHING alike!

I feel ya' girl!! I get that every day... or like- my carseats are pink & blue... Here's the conversation "are they twins" (duh!)... "Boy and girl??" (Duh, no it's 2 boys, but I wanted one to get in touch with his feminine side so I put him in a pink carseat with pink clothes on!!)... "Are they identical?" (Duh... do you have the same parts as your husband??) Of course I don't say what's in parenthesis, but that's totally what I am thinking!!!!! I am sooooo there! I guess people are just a little clueless!

my twins do look very similar.. they also looked identical when they were born.. dunno if them being prem had anything to do with that.. they were 11weeks early.. and they r now 16.5weeks old..mine love being together too.. u can see already that they will b close.. they hate being apart.. people cant grasp that the one in pink is a girl and the one in blue is a boy.. they always think that they have to b boy/boy or girl/girl.. and look at me like ive given birth to the devil having girl/boy twins.. at the moment the girl is bigger than the boy but hes catching up.. her was the bigger twin only by 50g.. but he had surgery at 5weeks old and was restricted with weight for over 3weeks..

I also have a boy and girl twin and did get asked that question alot. Thats crazy for a Dr. to be asking that. How old are your twins? My twins will be 6 in July. My problem is they love being together but they are always fighting with each other it drives me crazy.

I had one baby in a pink carseat and one in a blue carseat and people could not fathom that one was a boy and one was a girl. They had to be the same sex. Now they are 2 1/2 and my son is bigger than my daughter and people actually tell me they couldn't possibly be twins because he's bigger. So because they are twins they should be the same size? Not. So I look at them and say that he was smaller twin at birth because he was and they look shocked and don't know what to say. People don't get that they can be the same sex or one of each, they can be the same size or one can be bigger/smaller. Twins does not mean everything is the same or identical.

I have identical twin boys and I thought the same thing you did! I just did a little research and below is the info. I found it interesting - but still it's so very rare, that it's silly that people ask. I think it's annoying when people ask me if my boys are twins -duh! and they ask how do I tell them apart- I look at them!

Boy Girl Identical Twins



"Are they identical?" As the mother of a boy girl set of twins, that question sometimes annoyed me. It seemed to me that it should be obvious to anyone observing them that opposite sex twins are not identical, (the splitting of one egg fertilized by one sperm), but fraternal (two eggs being fertilized during the same ovulation cycle, by two different sperm). The nature of the word identical invokes thoughts of two or more things being exact in appearance.



In the world of twins, conventional wisdom stated that the only possible combination of identical twins was either boy/boy or girl/girl. The idea of boy/girl identical twins was not seriously undertaken, until recently.



Although extremely rare, there are now documented cases of boy/girl identical twins.



A brief science lesson as to how the phenomena could realistically take place would begin with an egg being fertilized by one sperm, then dividing itself into two separate eggs, which is also the exact way identical same-gendered twins begin life. However, in the case of boy/girl identical twins, those fertilized eggs initially both contain male DNA only.



We all learned in high school biology that male DNA have an X-chromosome and a Y-chromosome and it’s the Y-chromosome which makes him male and female DNA have two X-chromosomes. Well, in the case of mixed-gendered identical twins, which always begin male, the Y-chromosome disappears, and science has offered no explanation for it. As a result of losing the Y-chromosome, the male twin becomes female with an XO DNA chromosome pairing. The name for this condition is called Turner's Syndrome.



According to the Turner's Syndrome Society of the United States, the disease is a chromosomal affliction that affects 1 in 2000 births. The most prominent characteristics of Turner's Syndrome is short stature and infertility, with the average woman afflicted with the condition reaching a height of 4'8". Thirty percent of women with Turner's Syndrome also suffer from kidney and heart ailments, according to the group, which is the largest advocacy organization for those associated with the disease.



Most girls born with Turner's Syndrome did not begin as a twin, as most pregnancies where one of the fetuses has the disease ends in miscarriage. The overwhelming majority of boy/girl twins are born fraternal. Scientific studies have shown that there are only 6 known cases of identical boy girl twins worldwide as most go unreported

I saw something interesting on TLC once about this..I think it is possible, but very rare...I didn't think it was possible either until I saw this and i was amazed...Maybe you can find some info about it online...People r crazy though....When our twins were born...people in public would ask it they were twins..DUH?? Good luck!
