What do you ladies think about keeping your babies in a harness? I never did that with my oldest, but he was only one, now with the twins being 14 months and not too happy about being in the stroller for too long, Im contemplating the thought. Im not crazy about it though. So please input and suggestions....

thanks :+)

Haha, this thread is awesome!! I have 13 month old twins (one is walking, one is still just crawling) but I bought the girl monkey and boy monkey harnesses and I have been debating on whether or not I will use them. After reading this thread I am keeping them, I am so nervous of them going different directions when they are both walking because I am alone with them most of the time! Thanks ladies!!! :)

wow Mattie, that brought tears to my eyes just reading it!!!! we have them, we have not actually used them, when its just me and the 3 boys I usually take the double stroller for the babies, if we let them walk Im either with hubby or my mom so we each take a baby by the hand, but I have them ready for our outing this summer... its crazy and dangerous and there is usually one twin that is very daring and the other one not so much, but as soon as he sees brother doing it he does it too!!!...

I know I'm late on chiming in on this, but I heard a story I had to share. Parents of twins; dad wanted to take twins to swap meet, mom wanted him to put them in harnesses. He said "no way" and went out to show her how he could handle them. They were in an aisle walking in tons of people and they both bolted at the same time in opposite directions. The dad could not see them within seconds. He said, he could literally feel his heart beating in his throat and in a split second decision tried to remember which one ran faster. He headed that way and found the first twin. He was about in tears as he headed towards were he last saw the other twin. He found the other 2 aisles over in the arms of a nice woman (lucky for him, huh). He drove home thinking about not telling his wife, but when he came in, he (in his words) burst into tears and said "I'll never go without the harness!!"

I heard that when I was preg. and knew I'd buy one as soon as mine were running. Yesterday my 13 mo olds BOTH ran opposite ways and one towards the street. I freaked out and know it is time!

My kids loved them. I would turn them around so the monkey and the dog was hugging them. We used them at Disneyland so they would be safe and close to me. They both remember it as mommy wanting to take care of them and keep them safe not like a leash. They ask for them now. my boys are five and don't need them but still love them

I used harnesses when my kids were little. I had twins and another that was only a year older then them, and so I used the harnesses all the time. I occasionally got rude comments from people, but my response to them was always that I was keeping my kids safe, and under control from running wild. Better for them to see me out with my kids on a harness, then to see me crying on the news because somebody snatched one of them, or they got hit by a car or something. And I agree, they make some really cute ones now. I haven't had toddlers in almost 10 years!

you aren't crazy! we do what we do to keep our kids safe! I have a 2 year old and a 9 month old and the 2 year old is a runner. I have to put him on a harness while my daughter is in the stroller otherwise he would run into traffic and get away from me in crowded areas. my son is very good with it now-he calls it his puppy....he's got the puppy backpack with harness where you hold on to the tail. I get looks and some people say "you put your child on a leash" I tell them leashes are for animals and that this is a SAFETY harness. let people think what they think. you're a good mama :)

I used them on occasion, I always had them with me in case I needed them. Mine were these cute little butt packs with a leash. The safety of my Toddlers was more important than the looks I got.

I don't think it is bad. My duo are 4 months but when I was preggo I saw a couple twin moms had their kids in the cute little bear backpack harness and I thought what a great idea! If they are anything like my singleton I will be buying a set of harnesses in the near future :)

II used them a few time. It was good for teaching them to stay close. We focused more on holding hands, but it was nice to have them on just in case. My opinion, who cares what others think, the safety of your toddlers is the highest concern. Mine are now two and won't leave my side unless I hold their hand, and they even hold each others hand. If it makes you feel more comfortable, I say use them.
