Currently my 16 week old (adjusted age 11 week old) twin girls are nursing to sleep at night but I know that is a habit I should probably try to get stopped. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to go through a bedtime routine with both at one time. (my husband puts our 2 and 1/2 year old to bed about the same time so I am on my own) With my older daughter we would rock and read and sing but how do you do that with two of them? Maybe I am just overthinking things but I am open to suggestion. :) Thank you.

When ours were that age until after they were one, we would go in their room, shut the door and have a dim light on so we could see what we were doing We'd change their diapers and put their jammies on then give them their bottles, burp them and lay them down...they were still up throughout the night but becuase we stuck w/ the same routine ever night, they always knew what time it was and when they got older, they would go to sleep and stay asleep all night, they now sleep 12 hours straight ever night and their 1 1/2. No matter what you do, you have to remain consistent, though it's not easy you have to make it a point, that way they have no question as to what time it is. Good Luck!

Thank you, Katie. Like I say, I am open to suggestion and I might be able to take bits and pieces to use. :)

My girls are a bit older than yours, they are 7 1/2 months, but I think the same would apply. My husband works shifts so I have a few nights a week where bedtime is just me and the girls so I feel your pain! Their bedtime is usually at 8pm. So at 7pm I bath them (one at a time), I keep the other in their exersaucer (when they were smaller I would use the bouncy chair...those were lifesavers!). By the time bathtime is over its close to 730pm. I give them their cereal and bottle, swaddle them and put them down. They are in separate rooms so I have been putting them right down awake for about 4 or 5 weeks now and it is working beautifully. They are learning the valuable habit of falling asleep on their own and life is MUCH easier for me. I used to rock each one to sleep every night, it got tiresome really fast. Unfortunately bedtime is one of the things that requires time, babies love routine and I find the more often I keep this routine the better they sleep at night, they know when its bedtime. I hope that helps, I know our situations aren't exactly the same since you are nursing and your babies are a bit younger than mine. Good luck!
