Birthmarks in Identicals

This question may seem ridiculous, but does anyone know if identical twins share birthmarks? I remember reading about mirror image twins, and the article I was reading said mirror image twins would have birthmarks on opposite legs (or opposite sides) So I was curious if that means that all identicals share birthmark locations?

I'm asking because one of my twins has what looks like a birthmark on his face, but the other does not. So if it is true that identicals share birthmark locations, I'll know that what I'm thinking may be a birthmark really is not.

My identical twin girls have different birthmarks and moles. I always wondered about it myself, but I know they are identical because they were momo twins

I cannot tell my 18 y.o id twins apart on the phone either, sounds ridiculous but its true. One twin had a strawberry birthmark on his leg that disappeared after one year, while the other didn't.

Hi, my twins are identical and are mirror images...like their father and his twin brother are. They do not have identical birthmarks. One of my girls has a mark in her right in...look like an extra piece of cartidage, while the other one does not. What makes my husband and his brother mirror images...is a hair line flip, smile (out of opposite sides of mouth), and crooked tooth. My girls signs for this so far are hand preference, and smile.

April - identicals DO share DNA, however they have DIFFERENT fingerprints. So if for example one twin were to commit a crime, he or she would have different fingerprints from his or her twin, and they would be able to tell :)

One of my twins has a very faint stork bite on his forehead, it almost looks like a rash it's so faint. I was worried that it was a birthmark, and that it was permanent. Turns out it's not! :)

Also, my twins are not mirror image (at least as far as I know right now) I was just commenting on how an article I read used birthmarks as an example to determine mirror image twins, so that made me think that all identicals may have similar birth mark locations!

Identical just means they have the same DNA so if one comited a crime they could charge him with anything b/c his twin would have same DNA. Mine are identical and one has a birth mark on his inner leg.

MY twins don't share birthmarks, but they did have a really weird mirror image "pock mark" thing that looked like a peirced ear hole in the opposite ear, it was at the top of their ears, where it curls back over. They are 23 now, so I haven't checked for it in a while, but one of my twins, Ian, has more freckles on his back, and when I asked a doctor about it, he said it could have been something as simple as Ian being out in the sun for a 1/2 hour longer, or not as much sunblock put on as Mitchell.
As far as mirrir image....Mitchell is right-handed, and Ian is left-handed. They got their teeth on opposite sides of their mouths within days of eachother, and lost them the same way. When I am looking in a mirror, and one of them comes up behind me (even now), I have to turn around to make sure to whom I am talking! BECAUSE the face wouldn't match the voice. I CAN tell their voices apart, even on the phone, most of the time. They look the MOST alike right after they get a haircut, and they take turns being the "dominate", or more out-going twin. I am sure there is more, but that is enough for now! If you want to, ask away... BTW-are you SURE it is a birthmark, or could it be a mole, which could have come from the sun, and a freckle. OR- a light red/pink mark could be from something as simple as how the baby was laying in the womb, maybe with a hand, or finger push to that spot.(?) The back of Ian's head is a little mis-shapen because of how the twins were laying beside eachother in the womb. We could have rubbed it, to make it go away, when he was a baby, but it isn't even noticible anymore, except to me, and the lady that cuts his hair! LOL

HI, my twins are 24 (years not months!) but I guess age really isn't an issue here. One of my identical twin boys had a birthmark on his thigh, while the other did not have a birthmark of any kind.

My identical twin boys are 17mns and one has 2 birthmarks and the other has none! I can always tell them apart and they do look different to me, but other people have trouble telling them apart.

my id girls are 14 months and one has a freckle on her chest and the other doesnt... also the weight difference, head shape and skin tones are different. I'v done a lot of re search and all of what i mentioned are common for id twins....So yes id twins do have different birthmarks... not all id twins are mirror image twins either, i'm not sure how to find out if they are mirror image, maybe when they get older you would be able to tell...

My girls are identical & only 1 has a large mole on her arm (which helps people who don't know them tell them apart!) I don't think they really look alike but other people tell me they really look identical... They are 15 months old at the moment & I'm wondering if I'll get mirror image bubs as 1 seems to use her left hand and the other her right (I'm left handed, dad right!) From what I've read its still too early to tell though :)

Hi, My twins are nearly 20 months, one has a mongol birth mark ( just above his bum cheeks) and the other had none. The one who has none has a big mole on his right bum cheek an the other has one on his left elbow. My twins are supposed to be identical an there are days when they do look alike but i'm sure they are not. They have always had a weight difference an I have been told that they will catch up an look the same.

Sorry to ramble lol
