Hi everyone! I am taking my daughter (twin A) to a plastic surgeon for her cleft lip and palate and have seceduled a consult for myself as a result of carrying the twins. My midsection is grossly misshaped now. It protrudes out and I still get asked when I'm due! (even with Spanks on!) I would be fine with the extra skin from all the stretching but not the way it sticks out. Does anyone else have trouble with that???

I guess one "advantage" to having my twins at 25 weeks (if there can be an advantage!) is the lack of a twin tummy! Good luck

Yes and it is really annoying me. I had two 8lb babies and they stretched me to the moon and back. My stomach protrudes and I also still look pregnant and the skin on my stomach it all wrinkly, sagging and just grose. I have heard the recovery from a tummy tuck and the scar is worse then a caesar and while I didn't find recovery from a caesar all that bad I don't know that I go through with a tummy tuck.

Has anyone exercised and got there stomach back to some kind of normal after twins and if so how long did it take you and what exercisers did you do?

It's funny that I saw this this morning..I've been losing weight but I noticed that my midsection kind of pooches out. I tried going down a size, it fits everywhere except that pooch. Very frustrating. Maybe one day when I win the lottery I can get work done LOL

A mommy tune up as they call it may be just what you need. There is something very weird that happens when you have multiples. I had three single births and always got my figure back but then I had identical twin boys and OMG - they are 6.5yrs now and I hate it!! I've been to a plastic surgeon and she said you can't get rid of it and if your ads came "unzipped" as they call it, they won't go back but the surgeon can sow them up for you. It's expensive but I think so worth it and I hope I can someday. My girlfriend had it done - it looks awesome. Do what is best for you. Some are happy with battle wounds or badges of honor and that is so great - I really respect that - it's just not okay for me and you should decide what is best for you and your family/spouse. Good luck.

i just had twins, they are like 3 months old and i gained like 90 pounds even though i only carried them to 33 weeks... i lost all the weight, i'm like less than 15 pounds away from my pre preg weight and i fit in my old clothes again....... everyone tells me how my stomach will go away, but with my skin type it literally looks like the hulk came out of me... my ob even asked me if i had had a c section before, my stretch marks were so bad! i was like "i'm only 20" and went home and cried for like days :( than kinda laugh about because my c section is basically invisible compared to my stretch marks... ok like i have stretch marks on my vagina, they are so bad!
anyways to all the ppl who tell you that sit ups will make it go away: they are lying and should go burn in hell to be lucky enough to have the ability to lose it like that. in fact my doctor told me that if you have abdominal separation, abs can give you A HERNIA!!! i work out like a maniac, run and do like hours of cardio, but the truth is everyone who had it as bad as me, it can't go away. and if it looks like a deflated balloon, then we are on the same boat :( if you have the money and willpower to do it, then more power to you girl! i'm already saving, i'm seriously too young to have skin that looks older than my 65 year old grandma!. idk i just think about what i'm gonna be teaching my baby girl, i grew up being really self conscious about my body and had a hard time learning to love it, i think if i'm stuck looking horrible i would be more likely to pass on my self steam issies to her... and make everyone around me miserable since i'm too pissed of to look at any bikini ads without thinking about the fact i can never get in one ever again... i know being vain, but as you know we didn't chose to have twins, they were a blessing and a gift, and i don't want to feel any negativity associated with my little angels! your life doesn't stop just because you are a mom, the is nothing honorable in wearing your "twin skin"as a badge of honor if you don't want to!
sorry i came out too strong :P lol

Well... although I don't like it... its kinda good to know that we are all in the same boat tummy wise after twins! At least I am not the only one out there: / I can't think of doing the surgery to much money and to scary-I hate surgery! But I call my stomach my battle wounds that I can be proud of! I have 2 beautiful boys because of that!!! Blessings!

I have the same problem with my body after twins. lost all the weight but have skin that sags and wrinkles where I used to have a belly button. All I want is the skin cut off. I wonder how much it costs and what the recovery is. My boobs are pretty much gone also. I went from an A to like a C-D with Nursing. Now I have nothing but skin and nipples! ugh I would def get surgery when I am finished having children if I could afford it. I hope I can since I have such a hard time finding clothes and bras that fit me

I have the same problem with my stomach. I was always skinny and gained 60 pounds with my twins. I lost all the weight and some over the years (boys are 7 now), I work out and still can't get rid of the protruding stomach. I went for a consult and he said no matter how much I work out - it will never go away because the stomach muscles were torn from the pregnancy. I REALLY want a tummy tuck after having twins but the recovery is horrible from what I hear. I'm really scared about having it! My husband and everybody says I look wonderful but I feel disgusting when I look in the mirror. I've been miserable with the appearance of my stomach but have to keep telling myself that I got two beautiful boys out of it!

I have the same problem with my stomach protruding, extra skin and stretch marks. Both my twins weighed a little over 8lb each and as a result my stomach is a mess. My GP checked me over a month or so ago (my twin girls are almost 9months old) and said to fix my stomach I will need plastic surgery. Everyone seems to think that doing sit ups will help, but I don't see how.

I would love a tummy tuck, but have heard the recovery is worse than a c-section which I had to deliver my girls. Although my recovery from the caesar was pretty much pain free I don't want to be out of action with twins.

Would love to know how you go with your consult....

I'm in the same boat as Justine, I haven't always been a stick, but had the extra weight. Now I just hate the shape of my body. My boys were close in size, but my left side was ALWAYS bigger, now i am noticeably bigger on the left...It's not noticeable unless i'm showing off my stomach, so with even with my husband I am insecure. He loves me still and finds me attractive, but it has taken a tole on ME. ya know?

I gained 72lbs and lost 40 but I had preeclampsia. Also I have just changed my diet because I had Gallstones. I have been playing soccer for 5months now and only lost 5lbs...in the legs/thighs... tummy looks the same. So now i'm even more "top heavy" looking. I wish dearly we had the money to do a tummy tuck after I had my twins. But we weren't wealthy to begin with and now we've got two more mouths to feed, cloth and keep happy!

If you find any tips share please! Good luck and God Bless with your daughters surgery!

I have the same issue. I also had a hernia on my belly button due to the kids. I am giving myself a year to get back into shape. I get down on myself about that issue but then I think "hey I had two babies inside of me at the same time". I gained 60lbs and I have lost 40lbs. I don't look all that bad but we see what we want to see. I would love a tummy tuck but that is the last resort.

Sorry i don't have that problem, but if your self concious about your body after twins I would have it done. If only to make you feel better about yourself. i'm thankful i didn't even get a stretch mark. But i do have about 20 lbs i'd like to lose just from staying home with them for 5 years.

yes mine is a little bit. My twins were born last February 2009 and I was finally getting it down a bit when I found out I'm 7 1/2 weeks pregnant again! Guess the belly will have to wait.

If you are done having babies, have the surgery. And while he's there, maybe he can tie your tubes for you!!! I have 9 yr old b/g twins, and fortunately I have been able to get rid of 80% of my belly, I just have a little pouch from the C-Section and that I can live with. Good Luck!

I think you should wait until you are done having children before you get any surgery done. That way you wont have to do the procedure again if you were to have more children.

yes!! I hate it! My weight was always up and down even before the twins, so it's not the weight that bothers me so much - just the SHAPE of it - my tummy never looked like that before - first of all it sticks out from the top of my ribcage, not just a pot belly at the bottom, and secondly I have the tummy flap, which has to be just about the most unattractive thing ever!!! I did read somewhere that basically when you have that from rapid weightloss (as in pregnancy) you just can't get rid of it with diet or exercice, surgery is the only answer. Personally I'm to much of a coward for elective surgery - especially after teh c-section, which really freaked me out, but good luck!!!

I do!! OMG it isn't pretty! I am looking for ways to get rid of it with exercise but have not been able to start yet because I broke my foot soon after having them. It's healing now and I will start soon. I WISH I could afford a tummy tuck...that would be ideal!

I dont, but you should get a tummy tuck if it really bothers you. my mom had one and a breast lift and she swears its the best thing she's ever done. life is too short not to be happy with yourself. remember your body has just done an amazing thing carrying twins and you should love it no matter what. I myself would like to get a breast lift & enhancement after the twins. im done having babies and my breast seemed to have dissappeared! Motherhood is full of sacrifices unfortunately our body is the first. take care.
