I have a question for anyone to answer.......
I have 5 year old boy/girl twins who will be entering kindergarten in the fall. My daughter, Indie, received a cochlear implant 3 years ago and just got a second one 3 weeks ago and will be turned on next week. My son River is typical, no hearing loss. My school district has offered Indie a school that they feel is FAPE and is not her home school. However they are telling me our son River must attend his home school. This means they would be entering kindergarten at two different public schools. I know that this would be detrimental to both of them but the school district says there is no research that says it would be. Has anyone had any experience with this situation or with one similar? Indie is not dependent on River in school and is an outgoing girls, however being in different schools would cause them to not only be separated physically but they would also have different peers and different social interactions as well as different school activities, fundraisers, performances ect.... I would love any feedback. Thanks.

It couls actually be very good for them, not as harmful as I thought when I separated my twins, boy/girl as well, They will be going in to second grade, and have been separated since their second year of headstart. It has really given them a chance to grow as own individuals. My children love the fact that they have their own friends and their own social times. It gives them a special break from their twin, which is needed more and more as they get older. So what I am saying is in my opinion, It is not a bad thing to separate them.. If anything ask their opinon on the matter even at that age they know what they want.
