Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem as me after a C-section - I ended up with a nasty hernia that appeared in the C-section area after I had a bad cold and was coughing a lot.At the same time I was booked for a umbilical hernia, surgery was put of due to chest infection and while waiting for new surgery date my C-section hernia appeared that required reopening the C-section area, recovery time is another 3 months. Twins are now 6 months old and had surgery 4 weeks ago. My scar now when I cough seems a lot tighter is that normal didn't seem that tight after the 1st time they opened me up. Does it settle down more in time

Look forward to hearing your replies

Kind regards
Karen

Hi there! After I had my c-sectin I ended up really sick and I actually caught Staph Infection and Faciitias (Flesh Eating Disease) my scar completely opened back up. I had to have 6 surgeries and now I have stiches hlding my insides in because they had to remove almst all of my facia. I had to come back home wearing a machine that helped my scar heal faster but they had to come every other day and remove the padding in my stomach to clean it.. I almost didn't make it... I am one that always tells my story so people will know what can happen with a c-section. I do not want anything like that to happen to anybody else because I almost didn't make it, I am very lucky to be alive.

I had my c-section incision open. The incision got infected in one area (about 1/2 inch area) and then it opened up (about 1 month post op). They cleaned the wound and cauterized it shut. I have had 2 other pregnancies (1 v-bac and 1 c-section w/ twins) and I have never gotten feeling back in the area. After the second c-section, they removed a lot of scar tissue and straightened out my scar. It visually looks better but I still have no feeling and have difficulty with the muscles in the area.

I did have a c-section but not hernia issues. I'm military and the doc restricted sit-ups and push-ups for 4 months afterwards...I could start jogging at 2 months. My girls are 5 years old and doing sit-ups and push-ups still don't feel the same as before kids. I think it's a combination of c-section and having twins. Hope everything improves!! Yes, it does settle down, but don't expect to be exactly like you were before. SORRY!

I have never heard of anything like that, but I would check with your doctor. And if it isn't too much trouble, let us know what he says. My twins are almost 3 and just this past week I have started having sharp pains on one side of my C-section scar area...
