Did you deliver your twins early?

There is definitely a chance of your baby turning. I went for my last ultrasound before my scheduled c-section and they were both head down but when surgery day was here baby B was breech. My doctor does induce at 38 weeks so that is when my c-section was scheduled for and I made it there just fine. I had no signs of labor so who knows how much longer I would have gone. I had two girls weighing in at 6lbs and 7lbs 3oz. Hang in there, you are almost there!

I have20 month old mo/di twins. As you probably know over 50% of twins are born premature (before 37wks). All Drs are different but I know my doctor was not going to let me go past 37 wks. My babies wanted to come @ 29 wks but with meds they manage to stopped my pregnancy until 32 wks 6days . Due to PPROM I had them early but naturally, both of my babies where head down. It doesn't matter how you have you babies as long as you have them safely and healthy. Also, many Drs don't feel comfortable delivering twins naturally, especially if one of the babies is breech and if they are not breech once one of the babies comes out the other might become breech. The chances of your twin baby flipping are not that good since they are running out of room to move around (but anything is possible).

I was scheduled to have my twin boys at 37 1/2 weeks via c-section but due to elevated uric acid levels and ridiculous blood pressure, my boys were born 34w6days..but I believe I was 35 weeks. Baby A was breech the whole time. My boys were 5lbs 5oz and 5lbs 6oz. They spent 6 days in the NICU due to eating issues. Since being home they have done fantastic and now weigh almost 9lbs each at 5 weeks.

I am a mom of two sets of twins! My first set was born 6 weeks early they were 4 pounds14 oz 4 pounds10 oz my first one was breach so c sec is what I had. There was nothing wrong with them they got to come home 2 days later my second set of twins were smaller then that and were healthy as well! This was 19-20 years ago my oldest set of twins is now 20 and the youngest is 19 all are very healthy happy boys!!!!

I want into labor early but was put in hospital for 2wks then home on bed rest for two more. it was the best thing for the babies. I delivered at 36 weeks and my twins were 5lb15oz and 6lb13oz. It was uncomfortable that last month but worth it. The babies need all the time you can give them. There is always the chance baby A will turn on it's own.

I went 38 weeks and delivered two fraternal twin boys,Jaden weighed 4lbs 15 oz and Jordan weighed 5'15 oz I had them on Sunday June 24th and we all came home together on Tuesday June 26th. And I had no drugs or epidural giving birth... natural all the way.

I was given a c-section at 34 weeks due to toxemia (high blood pressure) I was very lucky my twins were 6lbs 7 1/2 and 6 lbs 5. They were healthy and only required oxygen for about 12 hours. I think I would have carried them full term if not for the blood pressure issues. I know it can be very uncomfortable but hang in there, every day is a gift you are giving your children.

I was at 38 weeks and 5 days when my doctor said that she wanted to induce me if I didn't go into labor by 39 weeks. I was 3 cm dilated at that point. My husband and I did all the tricks to make it happen, and I delivered the next day.

I didn't want to be induced, because I wanted a natural labor. I knew if I induced, then it would be hard from the start.

Both of my girls were head down. They weren't always head down though. Sometimes they will turn, but you also have to be prepared for the fact that they might not. You can try to do things to get them to turn. You should look it up on the internet.

I was really huge too, and very uncomfortable. Awful pelvic pain, it took so much effort to turn over at night when I was sleeping. I worked up until the day before I went into labor.

I am surprised your doctor doesn't induce. Most of what I have heard, is that doctors are "induce crazy" when it comes to twins. Remember though, that you do have a choice in the matter too. I think sometimes we forget that we have a voice, and can use that voice to advocate for our desires and wishes.

I delivered my boys at 25 wks. I started out going inot labor on my own. My 2nd boy was breech. The doctor had to reach up inside me to turn him and pull him out.

l had a scheduled c-section @ 38 1/2 weeks. l'm sure l'd of gone the full 40 weeks if it weren't for the fact that l had to have the c-section. Baby A was 8lbs and Baby B was 7lbs5oz. lt was a long hot summer as they were born July 23 last year. Am l totally crazy for possibly doing it again next year? But l'll be 47 next month and time is running out for us.

I had a planned c-section. Dr said I would be induced at 38 weeks as he didn't like twins to go any longer. As it was I was feeling good, well besides being huge. Had no contractions.Nothing. Twin A born at 8:54 at 6 lbs and twin B at 8:57 at 7lbs 3 oz. Both of them were head down a week before delivery and the day of Twin B was breach. Both girls came straight to my room with me, no NICU. Best of luck to you, just a while longer to go. :)

i had my twin boys at 32 weeks and had to stay in for 6 weeks but i was in hospital for 15 weeks all up t1 was 1200 grams and t2 was 1080 grams

I had my baby girls at 35 weeks. I had gone to the specialist to get checked out on a Friday. They said they were going to take them in two weeks no matter what, no reason to keep them longer than that and they were a good size. I was also to start seeing the specialist on Monday and Thursday for the following two weeks until they were born. The following Monday after they told me two weeks, they decided to induce me due to my little one not getting enough nutrition. I was induced at midnight, and my girls were born vaginally at 9:39 and 9:46 am! Both were doing well, but ended up having to stay in NICU for 9 and 11 days. Mostly due to eating issues, but they are 8 months now and thriving!!!

I was going to be induced at 36 weeks because my twins were out of room. I went into labour the day before induction. Baby A was breech until about a week before I delivered. Baby B was breech so the Dr. went up and turned him in utero but you are frozen from the epidural so you don't feel a thing. My boys are 1 1/2 hours apart.

I went into labor at 35 weeks and they stopped in with brethine (sp?). I went back at 36 weeks (average for twins) and they tried to stop it again. Baby A was breech anyway, so I faked my contractions every five minutes I'd tense my abs up and watch the monitor to draw the little plateaus. It took 2 hours to convince them it wasn't going to stop so they did the section. I was at the point you're at. It just ached being THAT pregnant (it's 18 months as far as I'm concerned (9mos + 9mos). I'd bruise when either of them kicked, even a cotton t hurt on my skin. If I'd recline you could make out little alien looking body parts on my stomache across the room, and I kept having a dream that my stomache would burst open and the babies would be stuck to the walls. It was well past time.

I had a scheduled c-section at 38 weeks, they were both transverse. The Dr. wouldn't let me go any longer. They delivered at 5.15 and 6.10. I suggest you wait and go as long as you can. My girls had no problems and went home with me.

i had my twin girls at 37wks by csection but this was 14yrs ago as one of them was breech and thats weird as i know people who have been induced with twins

I had twins at 38 weeks just two weeks early. They were my first children and it was a good pregnancy. The only thing that went wrong is I had 1 natural which was my first little girl, then my little boy twin 2 didn't want to come out so I had to have a c-section with him. Out of all this they have different birthdays because they were 2 hours apart.

I was five weeks early but shy of four weeks, actually. I had preterm labor at 28 weeks and was ordered total bed rest and was so ready to have them and I can identify with feeling HUGE. That's like a twelve pound baby if you think about it. Both were breech about a month before delivery and we were hoping for the same thing that at least one would turn, however, my doctor was more concerned about health of babies and myself do to the red flags we received on the one whose heart rate dropped the few days before I went in for c section. This is what prompted the scheduling. If your babies have good health, your doctor would definitely know if c section is necessary. I had my next child natural and though it was more painful, I recovered the next day and went home feeling like nothing happened, just a bad period, ha! The longer you can go with babes the better chances of having healthier babies. Even if you can go 38 weeks, that would be awesome. However, like some have said on this posting, most multiples come early. I was told if I tended to have my cycles early, then my babies would be born earlier than due date. That was true of all four kids. My last one was scheduled c one week early. May have been a chance that she would have been late as I had no sign of contractions when I went in to have her. Keep me posted. I am sooo excited for you. Being a mom of twins feels like an extra special blessing given to me by Jesus. I so praise him for all of my daughters. I know you will be as blessed too. Doctors were going to induce me at 38wks but thankfully i went in2 labour myself at 37wks. Baby A was head down and i delivered baby b breech, but the 2 of them had been turning every wk for 30wks so there is still a chance that ur twin a will turn

may be find another doctor! my friend got induced with her identical twin girls at 38 weeks and i had a planned c section at 39 weeks as baby a was breech but i went by myself at 38 weeks and had to have an emergency c section,she was breech all the way through!

i was booked for induction at 39weeks..

i know someone who had her twins at 41 weeks.. they are under 2 yrs old..

I was scheduled for 38 weeks but ended up with an emergency c-section @ 36 & 1/2 weeks on Sept. 08, 2009. My son (twin A) was being squished by my daughter (twin B). My doctor and several other specialist thought it would be better to take them early. We ended up with Gavin 3.3lbs and Kindle 5.5lbs. Kindle was in the hospital for 9 days due to not being able to maintain body temperature and Gavin stayed for 19 days due to weight. They wanted him to be a solid 4lbs before he could go home. Hang in there I went through the summer big and miserable. but it was all worth it for our two perfect babies. Now Gavin is pushing a hefty 17lbs while Kindle is holding her own at 17 1/2.

Well I went in at 29 weeks had them at 33 weeks and made them shut me off on all meds and made the doctor break my water. he was going to make me wait but I had rights when I said it was enough he did. and yes it is possible she will turn depends on how stubborn she is lol!!!

My twins were 8 weeks early,3 lbs 11 oz and 3lbs 14 oz, both breech, and Jeremy(baby a) was attempting to be born-his foot was out when the nurse checked me after I told her my water broke. An emergency c-section and they were born 27 and 28 mins. later,William (baby b) was the sicker of the 2. He was ventilated for 15 days-CPR on almost a daily basis for most of those 2 weeks. He had pneumothoraxes (popped both lungs) and they both had club feet. They are almost 24, both graduated high school and college now working good jobs. You'd never know what they went thru to get here. Thank God every day for giving us our boys(all 3-the youngest is 17) and for the knowledge to keep them alive when they were born.
FYI babies are generally considered 'term' after 36 weeks, but the longer you can carry your twins the better, it becomes an issue with lung development and surfactant production(a secretion in the lungs to help elasticity).
My delivered 'baby a' was not my ultrasound 'baby a'-so you may deliver baby b first. They can turn the baby if there is room-harder to do with twins.
I work in an NICU and it seems like the 'b' baby has a harder time if they are early.
Good luck-cherish every moment-especially the ones where you just want to give them away-cuz you always realize that you'd want the back. Absolutely loved having our boys drive us crazy!

Well I went preterm at 34 weeks and 5 days. I had baby A head down and baby B breech face up. I was scared about them being that early and prepared for the worst but A weighed 5 lbs 12 oz and B weighed 5 lbs 10 oz and we went home to days later and have been doing great ever since

My twins are 12 now and I had a c section about five weeks early and was scheduled to have it like the next day because both were breech and I was having problems and one baby was having heart problems but turned out okay. They did an emergency c section and all turned out well. baby a was 5 1/2 lbs and baby b was 6 1/2 lbs. Ask doc about scheduling c section as both were breech and i was told it was risky having natural deliver when they are still breech. Hopefully they'll turn for you.

If I could have, I would have carried my twins as long as I was able. I wouldn't go early, not even 37 weeks. I was uncomfortable already when I delivered, but, I saw babies in the NICU that were born at 37 weeks and later, and I wouldn't have made the decision to delivery early if I'd had the choice.

I had to have my twins at 31 weeks 6 days due to TTTS and being pseudo-mono/mono, and it was really tough.

Ultrasounds are not always correct on the weight of babies. I had one 2 days before my babies were born and it was 8 ounces off for each baby.

My twins (boys) were 6 weeks early. I was due Dec 29 and they came on Nov 16. They were a good size for being so early 5 lbs and 5 lbs 12 oz. I guess they were out of room LOL. They spent 8 days and 13 days in the NICU but they are very healthy babies now. They were both breach so I knew ahead of time that my doc would do a c-section which scared me b/c I had already had a vaginal delivery with my first son. It ended up being an emergency c-section (they put me under) because the babies were coming so quick (would have been an easy delivery had they just been head down). Keep them in there as long as possible and I am sure you'll go early.....GOOD LUCK!

I am a 68 year old grandmother, and when I had my twins 42 years ago, I didn't even know I was having them! I carried full term, and they were 6.8 and 6.1 pounds. At the time, my doctor was away, and so his associate delivered. He said he had to "close my legs" until another OB pack was delivered to the delivery room, so my twins are 15 minutes apart! OMG! My family went crazy! My Dad opened all the windows in the house, and greeted everyone who went by with, "Hey, my daughter had twins; two boys!" What a great time! Good luck to all of you!

I delivered my twins at 38 weeks 5 days via scheduled c-section. I had no labor or anything. I probably would have made it to 40 weeks if the Dr. would have let me. My OB wanted to schedule the c-section for the week before but I would not let him since the babies doctor was going to be on vacation that week and I wanted him there.

I lasted till 38 weeks with my girls and had to have a c section as baby 1 was breach & they said she wouldnt turn as they were BIG for twins...My waters broke as I was waiting to go in for my c section. I was also huge & just wanted them out! Good luck...every pregnancy & delivery is differant!

I was determined I was going to term with my babies. Needless to say I went into labour at 31 weeks and had my babies. Despite all the drugs they gave me to try and stop my labour. one of my babies was breech, she flipped while I was in labour. Don't worry about being induced, or what position the baby is in. It will all work out fine. Your doctor would tell you if there was a chance you needed to worry.

I carried my twins till 38 weeks and then begged to have them out! I developed a "pregnancy rash" all over my arms, legs, hips; incredibly itchy and red. It was awful, something to do with a build up of ureic acid in the urine??? Anyway, I was induced and had the twins by c-section after two and a half days.....

I was in false labor at 33w1day and they said that if i make it to 36 that they would induce me, but unfortunately I didn't make it until then I delivered my girls at 34w1day and they where 4lbs6oz and 4lbs2oz. I was supposed to have an emergency c-section because one of the girls heart beat was fluctuating but once we got to the OR her heart beat came back to normal and she was right there so they decided to get me to push then they went in to break my other water and her sister came out 4 min later, so I delivered both of them vaginally with an epidural.My girls where in the NICU for two weeks. So as Jen was saying try and bake them as long as you can. But I was put on bed rest at 24w due to funneling (cervix open at the top and closed at the bottom) and they where both head down by week 32, every situation is different. Good luck

I don't know anyone who has ever hit 40 weeks with twins....doesn't mean it doesn't happen. My best advice...bake them as long as possible!!! I am sorry if it feels uncomfortable and if you are "over it" but I would advise you take a visit to the local NICU and it will make you want to keep them in there. My girls were born at 31wks 5days and I wouldn't wish it upon anyone to leave the hospital without their babies. I don't know if you have other children, but I have 2. The schedule of going back and forth to the hospital to bond and love your newborns and still be "supermom" at home leaves much to be desired!
I had 2 natural births with my older two girls but had to have an emergency c-section with the twins. I have an AMAZING ob doc that has almost no csecs (and only one in area to do vbac) in his practice, so when he said it had to be done..it had to be done. C-SECTIONS STINK...but if it ensures a healthy and happy set of babies it must be done.

i had a scheduled c-sec at 38 weeks but ended up going into labor at 36 weeks so they did the c-sec then. Most likely you will not go past 37 or 38 weeks. Most doctors won't go past 38 weeks bc it can get dangerous for the babies after that particularly as far as growth development. most likely they wont end up letting you go past that time either.

My doctor did induce; I was 2 weeks early and in labor, again, and rather then stop it, he broke the waters of my fraternal twins. He had issues with my son; a foot slipping, and than the cord, so I had an emergency c-section. I was induced with my singleton as well, one week early. He didn't want to come out at all, so another c section. That decision was made because my doctor (who I named dragon lady) thought I had gestational diabetes (which is not always correct by the way), so she freaked us about him staying in. I really depends on the doctor though. The general rule is to keep them in for as long as possible, so unless it is an emergency or a planned c-section date, then I would just keep truckin' along.

I was scheduled to have a c-section at 38 wks, however, after symptoms of pre-eclampsia, they decided to take my babies a week early, at 37wks. There is always a chance one or both of the babies will flip, but it does become less likely, the further along you are because there is less and less room to flip. But it can still happen. My babies never switched positions, from 16wks on. They were in the exact same position at every ultrasoung. Baby A was head down and Baby B was breech.

I felt really good until around 34 wks, thats when I was really uncomfortable and just huge. My ankles were the size of softballs. But I will tell you, that no matter how uncomfortable you are, you will forget all of it the second you hold your babies! Good luck with everything!

No induction.I had my twin boys at 34w2d via c/s. I had been in preterm labor since I was 28 weeks. They stayed in the special care nursery for about a week. No major medical problems at that time, thank goodness. I wish I would've made it to 36 weeks or beyond. My boys have developmental delays and other slew of problems because of the prematurity.

I had a scheduled c-section @ 38 weeks. I was MISERABLE! My Dr. didn't want to schedule mine either, she wanted me to go into labor first. My friends Dad is a perinatologist (high risk OB specialist) and he told me to find a Dr. who would take them at 37 or 38 weeks b/c they were so big that it was dangerous for them to stay in much longer. He said they could compress each others umbilical cords when they get so big. I am 5' tall and 105lbs when not preggers. They twins were 6.8lbs and 6.10 lbs at 38 weeks!! I discussed this w/my OB and she decided to deliver at 38 weeks. Thank God:)

Well my twins came at 8 months on the dot my due date was Nov 19 I had them Oct 19 and no I had them natural and no inducing I thank god they where fine and I think they wanted out more then me lol having twin 1 just fiished pushing him out dr turned to give him to the nurse and I yelled 2 is coming when the dr turned to me the other twin was already half way out and yes my twin first one was breech as well but at the last minute he turned and came out just fine I had no C section I had them just fine.

I was 2 weeks early with an emergency c-section. They were actually quite big. My daughter was 5.8oz and my son was 4.12oz. Huge for twins.
