do this bother anyone else about asking who has twins in their families

I did happen to have fertility treatment and my girls are fraternal. I hate when people ask if they're "real" twins. Of course they're real. How could they be fake. Just because I had to have extra help doesn't mean anything. I do happen to have 5 sets of twins on my side of the family, all fraternal. People are nosy, and not aware of their rudeness when they ask these questions. My girls also are a carbon copy of each of us. Zoey looks just like me and Ayelleah is just like her dad. It's funny, we always said perfect, one for each of us!!

i was always told that fraternal twins run in the family on the mothers side and that identical twins can be born to anyone as they are an occurance of nature!! I have fraternal twins and so did my great nan it appeared to skip some generations and landed on me lol!! I hate that question too i hate having to try and explain!! But the thing i hate most is when people say " you must be mad!"...i hardly thought "i know, i'll have twins" It's not a choice ;)

Wow you are very hostile! Actually if you did your own research you would see that what has been posted is true. Your husband could have 100 sets of twins in his family and it wouldn't matter one bit. It's the woman's body that has the eggs.

 If you didn't know that identical twins are from one EGG and fraternal are from 2 EGGS, then maybe you should be reading up on twins. And by the way a man shoots out millions of sperms at one time when he is ejaculating and if you happen to get pregnant and your egg splits with the one sperm, that's where the identical twins come into play, as for the fraternal that is two eggs, two sperm.

As for the doctor being dumb, well where did you get your degree???

I don't like the qyestion either. My husband's younger brothers are twins. When I tell people this they automatically nod their heads-- oh that must be why. Then I have to explain that my girls are fraternal and I released two eggs. This seems like very personal information to be giving out to just anyone- talking about my eggs. I should probably just say : Yes, there are twins on my husbands side." and leave it at that.

The other question that we always get is did we use fertility aids! DUHHHHHH! Mine are identical that questionn is just extra idiotic! Oh and antoher one we get, is did you want twins? WTF! What kind of a question is that, no I did not want a crazy high risk pregnancy and birth and the scars and stretch marks to prove I was there, no i did not want all the craziness that comes along with twins including all these dumb questions! No I never wanted twins, but woudlnt' give them up for anything!

Im through with being nice. My twins (fraternal) are always looked at. Its as if I read people's minds! On a very frequent basis I get all of those questions. Reason being- they are fraternal,and they are literally a copy of each my husband and I. Thats how they turned out, and yes, i grew them and gave birth to them! I also get the age question because one guy is built like a tank and the other is like a string bean. They are different people (As I frequently say to myself!). My husband handles it better than i do. He says he has two wives! Its fun to watch people's expressions when he says this...he's Turkish, so some people do a double take, as if thats acceptable in Turkey. People are so nosy, crude, crass, rude, they have no idea what those comments mean to parents. My angels were born full term, healthy at 7lbs each. Pregnancy was the easy part. Anyone who has the nerve to ask those questions should try being a parent of twins. My husband and I have great respect and admiration for those who have raised twins or multiples!

Hi, when i was expecting my girls I ask the doctor just about the same question, and he said that it comes from the maternail grandfather is the one who had the gene to pass on. I thought that was neat to know that i got that from my maternail grandfather and it was from his and ..... we traced it back and the only twins were from 1920's ! that was neat at least we now it skips a few generations lol wheather it is true it was still neat to find out something about the past ... I get the question alot. It doesn't run in either or our families, but it now runs in ours! A complete fluke, as we weren't even planning. What I can't stand is people who ask if we had fertility treatments! We didn't, but how completely personal! and so rude.

I'm due in September with my first two...identical boys according to the doctor, but people are already asking me all the time who has twins in the family. I dont have twins in my family AT ALL, but my husband is a faternal twin and has twins in every generation of his family....who knows...I blame him haha

It can come from the man.  When the egg splits in two, its from the mans genes.  If you have two eggs fertilized its from the mom.  See my doc told me this.  So who knows.

Oh and also i hate the "Double Trouble" comment.  to be honest my all but 15yr old son gives me more trouble than my twins. and tends to aggrivate my 5yr old daughter as well. So really they should be asking if they have picked any bad habits from my other children.

Thanks for that info!  I wasn't aware of it, nor had i given it much thought.  I have fraternal twin boy/girl, and there is twins on both sides of my mother's. Her mum (my grandmother) was a twin and her father had twins on his side of the family also, both identical and non Identical. Well what do ya know!  my dad always said you learn something new every day, and today i have.  lol thanks! :-)

When people ask me if twins run in the family, I usually say "yes, here and there and every where even over there and such, and they don't ever walk". It's true, and if the person looks confused I just say that we have fraternal and identicals in every corner of the family (both of my parents and my MIL and FIL's families all have twins). If they ask if I took drugs, then I just say "no, but I wish I had them now" and I usually get a laugh. If I get asked if they're natural I just say " of course they're as natural as any human being I've ever met". If I get a comment like "it must be a lot of work, I just say "I don't know what it's like to have just one at a time, but I hear it's super easy and kind of boring". And finally if I get a comment like "I'm glad it's you and not me", I always say "me too" because It's true. I'd rather not have it any other way. People have no idea how rude they can be, and that it's simply not their business. I also ask people to not stare at us because it's rude, we're not the freak show at the circus. Or I'll just set in between the starring person and my boys (who are now 3 1/2).  I hate being rude to people, but it does get tiresome to get asked the questions all the time. All I want to do is run my errands like any other person or have a quiet dinner with my family while at a restaurant.  I know that most people mean well, but they need to realize how rude it is to ask such silly and stupid questions.

uggghhhh I 'm sorry, I try to be patient but stupid people I just can't do!!!  I waste my time trying to explain things and some people get mad when I'm a smartass about it, but the fact of the matter is they are my kids, I grew them both, yes at once and just smile and say my side of the family.  It has gotten tp the point sometimes that my hubby would just stay home with the twins so we didn't have to deal with stupid people

there is a little bit of evidence to say that (somehow cos i agree its weird) the man has some input. maybe its more clever sperm that can sctually find both eggs? who know haha but i agree, its fairly obvious that its mostly the woman that makes twins...
