Do you dress your twins in the same outfits all the time?

I dress my twins in the same outfit almost every day I kinda feel bad about it but when I dress them different I dont think they look right? It's not that appeling to the eye I know it's sounds kinda weird but I just wanted to know what others think? I know when they get in school they will need to dress different.

I feel the same way. I always dress them the same and it doesn't look right if they aren't to me. Kindof silly though. But, even if they are dressed the same, they and I both know they have different personalities. Nobody thinks they are the same person just because they are wearing the same thing.

[deleted account]

I have identical girls and have never dressed them the same, they are two very different personalities one is a tomboy and ones a fairy, I'm afraid I don't think that it looks cute to see them the same, how can they develop a sense of self and individuality if they have a mirror image following them around. Have always made sure that they are seen as two people and never lumped together as the twins. They have never wanted to dress the same as yet and they are nearly 10. They love being twins but it does not define who they are.

we always dress them in the same outfits, if one spits up or needs changed then we wont go changing both unless its to go out then we would make sure they are wearing the same thing, im sure when they get older we wont do this but they are identical twins and they are only 3 months

You know it has been on my mind also, but now I let my boys pick out their own shirts and they ALWAYS want to wear the same, they are now 2.5 but as soon as they let me know that THEY have different tastes in clothes etc. that is when their little personalities really can come out. They are identical BUT yet very different:)

I found that if I dressed them alike there were not as many arguements over who got to wear what. As my girls started school they had a mind of their own and prefer to dress themselves in what they want. The shoes however are a different story. They both fight over one pair of boots, so I'll be buying another pair of boots! :)

[deleted account]

Please no! I have a boy and a girl too, and occasionally I have a similar t-shirt (and they wore the same "I am 3" for their birthday) but other than that, never! I wouldn't do it if I had 2 of each either. Different kids, different clothes ...

Oh gosh no. Not saying that I have never dressed them in the same colour or the same outfit. My girls are identical and I have enough issues still telling them apart at the best of times. So dressing them in the same outfit, just confuses us and everyone else even more. Now they are 3 they never sit still. So if I am looking at them from behind I still can't tell unless I am looking them directly in their face. Plus they used to tell me one was the other and trick me, cheeky monkeys!

My boys are 27 months and I tend to dress them similar, i.e. same jeans different colour tops or same top different coloured trousers etc. Although now when I pick their clothes they tend to want to pick for themselves, mostly this means they were the same but have found recently they prefer different shoes. I am assuming this is most likely a comfort thing.

Its nice to read what other mums do. I do want my two to be different people but sometimes you see an outfit and you just cant buy it for one.

I love dressing my twins alike! Es.ecially because their older sister is only 11 months older and i often get asked if they are triplets. I also like to dress all my girls in the same style of outfit but different colors. I always dress one in the lighter color and one in the darker color. It helps family and friends tell them apart easier,

My twins are girls aged 22. When they were small, I dressed the differently when they were at home or play. It made it easier for me to know who was who from behind!!! lol But they were always dressed the same if we went visiting or somewhere special such as a family gathering. They need their individuality, as you will find when they get older.

i dress mine the same when they wear outfits, but indoors when they wear their sleepsuits they are different. make the most of it while they are still young. its just too cute lol

[deleted account]

Sadly, yes. They didn't ever wear EXACTLY the same thing, but I would just modify my daughter's clothes to be girly but still match her brother's. I added flowers to her overalls, or to hats. Maybe I'm just crazy, but even at 6 yr old, I still feel uneasy if they don't have the same "kind" of clothes on. I like them to both either have long pants, or both have shorts, or warm jammies, or cool jammies.

i have fraternal twins and i pretty much never dress them the same. i dont buy anything the same only if someone gives me something will i have double and even then most times i will not let them wear it at the same time. for me identity and uniqueness is crucial

I dress my twins in the same outfit, except when they are at home because I like when they are in the same clouts. My pediatric told me that they will not have there own identity, but I can't help my self I like them in the same outfit ;D

[deleted account]

I like to dress my girls alike as much as possible (I even fix their hair the same way). Sometimes when shopping for clothes, it's hard for me to find two of the same size so I have to settle for the same style but different color.

I dressed my girls alike when they were babies. I quit doing it after they got so old. they're 6 now. They hate looking alike. They get mad if I put them in similar colored shirts.

I have always let my kids decide. I like it when they dress differently as then people that don't know them don't go all crazy over them. They get to have their own personalities without others judging them. After all they are two individual people.

I dress them the same some days and separate most days. My thing is though I also have an older boy and when I dress my twins the same I dress their brother in the same outfit!!! I totally understand what you are saying!!! They are at the point now where they pick out their own clothes and they are never the same clothes. So it is all up to you!!!

I was NOT going to dress my boys the same but then I had two outfits the same and decided to do so one day and they looked so darn adorable, I couldn't help buying them the same outfits. I don't do it everyday but I try to when I take them out in public. I will most likely stop doing this when they are a little older and understand a little more. Right now it's fun. I still can't believe how many people ask me if they are twins when I have them dressed exactly the same. :)

I have 4 month old identical girls, when we go out somewhere special I dress them the same, cos I think it's cute and at that age it can't harm them. But on a every day basis, no I just grab what ever, my laundry is all over the place anyway so trying to find matching outfits can sometimes be a pain and time consuming. When they get older obviously I will let them choose what they want to wear, even at this young age I can tell they have different personalities, so I'm pretty sure when they get older they will resent being dressed the same.

I dress my girls alike, and the reason behind that is....it saves on fights! lol. Seriously, they are 3, and if they are dressed different, they fight over wanting to wear what the other one is wearing....even if they picked out what they wanted to wear! I am sure when they get older it will be different and they won't want to dress the same anymore.

I dress my girls alike from their hair all the way to their shoes. I can't help it. I think that they look so cute dressed alike. I promised them that if they wanted to dress differently when they got older then fine but for right now they have to dress alike. I am so glad I woke up from that nightmare ! Whew that was a close one !!!!! LOL

I dress my girls in the same outfits and even the same PJs. Even though they are not identical I just like the way it looks. I thought about still dressing them alike once they got into school but I'm not sure if that is what they would want.

I dress the twins in matching outfits, in coordinating outfits or completely differently-- depending on the day, activity and mood. If we're out and about at the zoo, museum, etc. it is much easier to keep an eye on them in matching bright outfits. One thing I've noticed is they only like to wear their matching outfits together, never on separate days.

I dressed my alike even though they are fraternal. I think I may have been a littel obsessed. Everything had to match down to their socks. Sometimes, it would be same outfit, different color. As they got older, I let them decide if they wanted to. Now they are 14 and decided they were going to start back dressing alike when they started high school. It is not weird. It's fun! Dress them alike until they say different :)

yes, everyday. Some people give me a hard time about that, but I don't care. I figure if they want twins to wear different clothes, they can have their own set. Until then, they can just shut it.

they are two individuals and like all children they like to have things that are special. My identical twins chose there own clothes to wear - they have a few special clothes that they only wear but most they just chose what they want to wear. It gets a bit complicated if they chose the same colours. Most of their friends use their clothes to tell them apart so it is going to be difficult when they have to wear the same uniform everyday at school. They have been swapping identities since they were two.

I always at least cordinate their outfits because I think the same thing! When they are old enough to dress themselves, they can wear what ever they want to. But for now when I have to pick out the outfit I go for what I like.

I think that your picture it the cutest thing ever!

I dressed my twin boys alike because it was just easier for me to grab two of this and two of that. Then when they were in school they were always in diffrent classes so I just got the same thing in different colors. Soon enough they will get opinionated. That's when I began to dress them differently, when they could tell me what they wanted to wear. Also, the rare instances when I tried dressing them differently, I got, "why does he get to wear that" or "I wanted that one." lol

I think its best to mix it up a little. You could dress them in like styles with different colors. Sometimes totally alike and sometimes totally different. Its is good to build on all aspects of being a twin. Complimentary alike and individual.

I agree my girls usually get dressed the same or very similar, but at the same time I really try as they get older to not make them look so similar they are their own person, and I guess I just think if I was a twin I'd hate my mom for making us look alike all the time. I've been told by many mothers of multiples to make the girls as individual as possible there own little people, thats what they learned anyways. Hope that helps you out and good luck.

I always dressed my twin boys the same, i still do at times, I enjoy dressing them the same, it was even easier to buy them clothing,i had a better feeling when both have the same fabric texture whenever it i cold, same coulour just to avoid fights, this is however , at 3 and a half years, changing, because each one has there favorite colour, or chracter. They even have toys that look exactly alike, but they always find s'thing that will separate them. Funny !!

I am the same. I dress my girls the same, but feel kind of cheesy. I always said when I was pregnant I would never dress them alike, but at 5 months old they look too cute not to. Usually I buy the same outfit in 2 different colours. One of my girls is more a pink girl and the other suits purple so that's usually what they get. I dress them differently and feel weird. When they get older and have their own personalities they can dress differently as I think older twins dressing idientical is lame, but that is just my opinion.

I do dress my boys in the same outfit but it is to mess with people. The shirts that they have that match say Good things come in two and peace love twins. I got them so people would stop asking oh are they twins, did it work no! If I do dress them alike it is the same style different color. Though they are twins I want them to have their identity. I don’t want them going to therapy later in life b/c I dressed them a like. There are 6 sets of multiples in my family one set of triplets. The oldest ones are on their 40s and they hated when their mom dressed them alike. Yeah its cute I save it for pictures!

[deleted account]

my girls would kill me...lol...i did for pictures to please the ignorant ones in my family....and sometimes it was fun...but when we lived with my mom around the time the girls were 2, she even said its good to make sure they know they are two separate people...so i took that advise...and she was soooo right, but she usually is...lol

the only time i see them dress the same now is for soccer games :)

I think for me letting them dress differently makes them have there own personality. They may not have their own personality per say in what they wear now at 23 months but one day I want them to feel comfortable with knowing they can be their own person. Just my thoughts, although I do think it is cute sometimes.

When my 11 years old girls were younger, we would dress them the same, AND dress them differently. We've been back and forth in dressing them both the same and different. Now that they are older, they are choosing their own clothes. One likes to dress in sporty comfortable clothes, the other in girly pretty clothes.
