Do you dress your twins in the same outfits all the time?

I dress my twins in the same outfit almost every day I kinda feel bad about it but when I dress them different I dont think they look right? It's not that appeling to the eye I know it's sounds kinda weird but I just wanted to know what others think? I know when they get in school they will need to dress different.

Quoting Melissa:

I think for me letting them dress differently makes them have there own personality. They may not have their own personality per say in what they wear now at 23 months but one day I want them to feel comfortable with knowing they can be their own person. Just my thoughts, although I do think it is cute sometimes.

me 2 i have identical twins just becuae they look the same, they dont have 2 dress the same.

they are diffrent personalitys.

When my 11 years old girls were younger, we would dress them the same, AND dress them differently. We've been back and forth in dressing them both the same and different. Now that they are older, they are choosing their own clothes. One likes to dress in sporty comfortable clothes, the other in girly pretty clothes.

I dress my boys similar but different. same outfit, different color. one has a batman shirt, the other a superman. things like that, its fun, gives them a sense of identity and people still know that theyre twins :)

I'm a twin and mum dressed us the same most of the time when we were young - it gets to be a drag. You've got two individuals and they do like to be treated that way. Ask them whether or not they like it if they are old enough. I have a boy and girl so they are never dressed the same.

I have identical girls and they are 4 months old. I only really dress them in the same outfits if we are going out of the house..they wear similar clothes, but they are not always the same. If I end up staying home most of the day, they pretty much are in whatever and I really don't think they need to be in the same thing.

My twin boys are 6 now, when they were smaller i liked to see them dressed similar, i never liked dressing them identical, but would get the same style just different colors. They are now at a stage where one is twice the size of the other, so dressing them alike would look odd. I let them pick out whatever they want to wear unless its a special occasion..then I also get an outfit for their 2 yr old brother that is similar.

I dressed mine alike or coordinating while they were babies. As soon as there own "fashion sense" kicked in (about 2 1/2), they dressed themselves. I let them choose to dress alike or not. I never wanted them to resent being a twin by being forced to dress alike. And they share clothes, so not dressing the same expands their wardrobe.

But again, it is adorable when they are little.

I always dress my girls in matching outfits or in coordinated outfits...like one had purple and the other had pink but the designs on the outfits are the same :) I'm sure they will eventually want to dress different but I love dressing them alike for now

I've dressed mine alike since they were born, and they are 2 now. I always just thought that was part of the fun of having twins, and it's not like they care what they are wearing when they are itty bitty anyways. My boys still don't have a preference unless you give them the option of going naked. I guess some kids may have developed a preference by age 2 though. I always said that I'd dress them alike until they were old enough to tell me they didn't want to dress alike. Sometimes we do the same outfit but a different color. I also do think that I'll have them dressing differently by the time they go to school though. I know people who have 3 or more children of different ages and dress them alike at times. I think you should do what is most comfortable to you until your kids can tell you what is most comfortable for them.

One thing I've found though...just because you dress them alike it doesn't stop silly people from asking..."Are they twins?" When they were littler that always aggrevated me, but now it makes me laugh. Of course they are twins...they look alike, they are the same age, they are dressed the same. I guess people have just learned not to assume anything these days. I would just like to think that I could come up with a different conversation starter than asking a question that has an obviously implied answer...lol.

No way!

It's funny though - occasionally (very occasionally), they will dress the same on purpose - but they always include their younger brother so all three are dressed the same. When they were wee though, I always dressed them diffferent as they were different people

I have fraternal twins that look absolutely NOTHING alike. I dress them "the same but different" as I like to say. I like to find the same style but different colors because they are not identical.

I have non-identical girl twins (2y) with a 4y old girl too - sometimes all my girls will wear the same (or at least same colour tops/trousers) - this makes it easier to keep an eye on them when out and about. Sometimes the twins wear same outfit but different colours, or when we go somewhere new I put them in matching outfits so creche workers etc know that they are twins

I do on special occasions. the NICU Nurses and Docs said that you shouldnt dress them alike because they should beable to have their own idenity/personality? I dunno they said some study showed that twins that the parents didnt dress alike were able to be more individual rather than the ones that were dressed alike. I dunno if it's true but I don't really have that desire to dress them alike all that much.

I have never dressed my twin girls the same. I feel weird when they are in the same clothes. I believe they are individuals and when they wear the same outfit I feel that they just look the same like one unit instead of two different kids. Just wondering if you had two singleton children that were the same sex, would you still dress them the same??

I think that with fraternal twins, especiall boy/girl twins that this really isn't that much of an issue. We've been through different phases with this. I have 3 1/2 year old identical boys. We've never really dressed them alike on purpose. We do same outfits in different colors, or just similar outfits. I've always seen my boys as two individuals, which is why I don't dress them alike. They have different personalities, and different interests. Although with that said, they do sometimes go through phases where they insist on wearing the same thing. I have no idea why this is. So, we have a few outfits that are identical to help get through these frustrating days where they refuse to get dressed unless they're alike.

I never dress my kids the same way. I will dress them in similar outfits..but that is the closest the get to the same. I think it is a personal preference. I feel like dressing them differently helps them develop their own identity. I not trying to say whats wrong or right...that's just what works best for me!

Amelia had a pink hat in the hospital and Hannah had purple...so they kinda have been stuck with those colors, now amelia won't wear purple and Hannah won't wear pink because they know it's now theirs.LOL!  I have dressed them the same but normally will buy the same outfit different color!  My girls had the flu this winter and it drove me crazy because their cloths and PJ's were all out of order, nothing matched ...someone always needed to be changed so it messed everything up!  I know most people would say no big deal but it took me forever to get their stuff all organized again!  I guess it just saves me time to have everything paired up.    I know that soon enough they will want to dress themselves and that whatever they choose will be fine!

I have boy/girl twins but crazily I find myself having them in matching outfits... pink and blue or both in red but different outfits... I promised I never would but they are sooo cute. As they get older and especially in pics I try and have them in totally different things so they look back at the pics and not feel so "twin" all of the time.

I dress my boys differently, even if it is just the same shirt but different colours. I try to let them pick, i know they are only 10 months old but one likes reds more than the other one so. I call them twindividuals. They have dressed the same on odd occasions but very few times.

I rarely dressed my twin boys the same. I did a few times when they were infants, and once in awhile they'll have the same outfits in different colors. Now they are 18 mos old and I just dress them in whatever I grab. I have three boys under 3, so I don't worry about whether they are matching or not. I don't think they notice either way.

Because i have identical girls i usually dressed them same style/different colors. they are 10 now and actually are choosing some of the same stuff. one of the saddest stories i ever heard was from an adult twin. he said his mom dressed him and his twin alike till they were 12 and he has resented being a twin all his life. i guess because of this i seldom dress them the exact same unless they want to. i think that children all have a personality and even identical twins need their own identity.

I am the mother of now 12 year old boy twins, when I found out that I was pregnant with twins, I swore to myself that I would never dress them the same. Until the day they were born, if one spit up I changed both. CRAZY I know, but that's what I did. Now at 12 it only happens when I am having family pictures taken, and then they will only were it once, just not happening when you are twelve.

I rarely dressed my triplets the same - only when someone happened to buy them matching items which wasn't too often with 2 girls and 1 boy. I always felt that their individuality was important.

I have g/b/g triplets and only dress them alike on rare occasions. I like for them to coordinate instead. For me dressing them each differently saves money because the girls are not the same size so the smaller is able to wear her sisters and they get double the clothes. I figure if they ever want to dress the same I will let that be their decision. I also think it is going to be hard enough for them to be a triplet, so I try to treat each child as their own.

When they were little we did same outift/different colors quite a bit.  They are 7 and have probably worn completely identical outfits less than a dozen times in their lifetime.  Just not something I'm comfortable doing.

I feel the same way. I always dress them the same and it doesn't look right if they aren't to me. Kindof silly though. But, even if they are dressed the same, they and I both know they have different personalities. Nobody thinks they are the same person just because they are wearing the same thing.

It was so cute - but as they started getting older, it got harder to match - now nearly 3 - i dont bother

But because they are boys, and when you go shopping for clothes there is not much of variaty, I try to buy at least different colors ;) ...but yes I must say when they are dressed the same it does look very cute :)
