this might be too personal for anyone to post openly, I'm retty open about my situation. my twins were cnceived by donor egg. I remember my fertility counsellor had some great story/picture books for children to hep explain conception through donor. does anyone out there that has also gone this route know of any? I do have a great one my husband picked up in Italy (in Italian, which is odd snce donor conception is illegal there but I digress...) but I also want to find some in english.

If there IS anyone out there that does know of some books along this line and you are uncomfortable openly posting I'd really appreciate a pm.

thanks!

Google "X, Y, and me"...they make cute books about any kind of IVF. I'm going to get them for my kids. I want to be honest with them about their conception and I think it's wonderful that you want to be honest too. I love when people ask me in the stores, "do twins run in your family" and I say "they're IVF babies" ...the look on their faces is priceless and usually shuts them up quickly! I don't think they hear that answer often as many parents are hush hush about IVF.

great idea to have bought three. I will for sure now buy one for each child. the donor,...missed that one but did put together a small gift for her and her daughter (it was anonymous). one of the things was an egg that is filled with soil crack open and fill with water to sprout. thought fitting. wish had thought of the book idea. beautiful.

Hi yes my darlings were from donor egg. The book I was recommended by my councillor I bought 3 copies - one to give to my donor so she could show her children & help explain. Also a copy each for my kids when I explain to them. Its called " Sometimes it takes 3 to make a baby" written by Kate Bourne. I have the receipt & it seems it has come from Melbourne IVF mind you this was back in 2006 . Good luck hope you can grab a copy it is easy reading for little ones.

There is a series of books by Irene Celcer and Horacio Gatto called "Hope and Will Have a Baby." There is one about egg donors. I haven't read it, but have gotten recommendations for the surrogacy one. I've also seen one called "A tiny itsy bitsy gift of life, an egg donor story" but I know nothing about it.

Our twins are genetically ours, but were carried by a surrogate. We do not keep it a secret from anyone and have a close relationship with our surrogate.
